We had a very lazy morning this morning before heading across to the beach to have lunch at The Kiosk again. Well, actually, I was lazy and Bernie spent the morning on the phone with Centrelink and MyGov trying to sort some stuff out for his parents. Unfortunately, after spending most of the morning in phone queues and talking with useless call centre staff, his problem remained unresolved. Aaargh!
The BLATs at The Kiosk were very good on Friday so we ordered the BLATs again and enjoyed them while we watched a young boy tearing around chasing the brush turkeys. The brush turkeys ran away, but can’t have been too bothered by the harassment as they returned pretty quickly to resume pottering around the kiosk. It was frustrating that there was no parental intervention to dissuade the child from harassing the wildlife??!!
After eating we walked along Sawtell Beach to Bonville Head. We even got our feet wet again. The weather remains really mild so, nice enough for paddling, but not quite warm enough to consider swimming! We climbed the stairs onto the head and stood for a while watching the whale activity off-shore. We saw quite a few
sprays from the whales clearing their blowholes, but still nothing more acrobatic.
Next on today’s agenda was massages at Noy Thai Massage. Bliss!
After getting all relaxed with a massage we returned to the apartment and Bernie got back on the phone to MyGov so he could get all stressed out again! He spent almost two hours on the phone with the staff member leading him to believe that she was working with IT support on a work around to fix the problem that Bernie had been experiencing with trying to manage his parents’ accounts. After all that time she then informed him that his identity hadn’t been verified on his own account and he would have to attend a Centrelink office in person with his passport and license to prove his identity. WTF? Could she not have ascertained that at the start of the call??? Unbelievable!!!
We headed over the street to have dinner tonight at the RSL. Wow, so many people at the RSL for a meal, it must be good? We both ordered from the specials board. Beef rogan josh for Bernie, with two of the biggest papadams ever and I opted for the
beef stroganoff.
Bernie spent the rest of the evening filling in a Centrelink feedback form online. The only problem was that he had so much to complain about that his session timed out before he could lodge it. His response to this was very restrained. I would have turned the air blue out of frustration!! I suggested that he type it all up in Word so that he could copy and paste it into the online form within the required timeframe. Second time around he succeeded in lodging his feedback on the appalling lack of assistance he received today.
