Blue Mountains View 1
Blue Mountains View 1 It was our last full day in Sydney and so we dragged ourselves off, sniffing and clutching tissues, to catch an early train to the Blue Mountains. The two hour trip up was through the suburbs of Sydney and then the ribbon development that straddles the railway line - and so gave us no inkling of our destination. On arriving at Katoomba we were greeted with a typical mid-Oz town that suggested that we may have made a mistake!! We ordered a coffee and received some good advice off the waitress - stroll down to the sights and save $38 each on the unnecessary hop-on-off bus. We took this advice and walked for 15 minutes past wooden built, but non- descript bungalows. And then suddenly, around a corner, everything changed - we were confronted with magnificant views and panoramas of the Blue Mountains. We took a number of photographs of the Three Sisters and other views and then took a 30 minutes breathtaking cliff-side path towards Katoomba Falls. The Falls took some finding and were not as dramatic as expected - a recent lack of rain? The visit was rounded off by a decent beefburger each at the Katoomba Falls Cafe
Three Sisters
Three Sisters - Hungry Jacks please note!! The walk into Katoomba was uphill and more demanding - luckily I bumped into a MG TB owner halfway to offer us the chance of a break!!
Our train ride back was not without incident. One of the passengers was clearly the worse for wear i.e. drunk and loud. We opted for a non-confrontational approach and moved carriage. We were not shocked when, halfway to Sidney, four hefty policemen boarded the train and removed the drunk.
The evening was finished off with some very very posh-nosh, namely pan seared baramundy with cauliflower puree, asparagus and a grilled lime - not a chip or spud in sight!!

Katoomba should be a good place to go for your colds with all the eucalyptus in the air! Hope you feel better soon.
