Kangaroos at the campsite are used to humans
Jervis Bay is lovely. After a drive to the large botanic gardens we paid for our campsite at the national park gates and headed to the campsite which is in a forest right by the beach. It is very wild - toilets but no electricity. There are 'wild' kangaroos but they are very used to people so very tame. The birds similarly are fearless. The beach is of gorgeous white sand with very clear water. There are loads of the strange scribbly barked trees. In the evening I decided to go for a forest walk at twilight armed with my torch to look for nocturnal creatures. I went a bit further than intended and it became very dark very quickly. It was a bit more scary in the forest than I had anticipated. I got a bit lost and had to find the sea and clamber back in the dark around the rock platforms in order to find my way back. Didn't see a single creature.
