We left Sydney and took a public bus up to Collaroy (about 30mins ride) to spend a few days on the beach.

The highlight was on Thursday when we took the bus further up to Palm Beach which is better known as 'Summer Bay' (yes, as in the Aussie soap Home and Away). We saw the surf club and other recognisable locations although no filming was taking place and neither of us have seen the programme in the last 10 years! Putting the famous connections aside, the beach there is beautiful and we were lucky enough to see:

- a pod of 8-12 dolphins swimming across the bay and surfing the big waves with the surfers
- many pairs of Rainbow Lorikeets
- lots of sulphur-crested (white and yellow) Cockatoos
- our first aussie Pelicans

News of the bombings in London came through today. Accordingly, we have spent a quiet day reflecting and waiting to hear further news from home. Our thoughts go out to everyone caught up in this terrible event.
