Want a ???
On the road trip up there, we found this little town (didnt see any houses) and thought it definately needed a photo!!! Hi Everyone,
This is basically my first blog to get the site up and running. Thought I would post some pictures of my trip to the Blue Mountains earlier this year. It might inspire you to head there sometime!
You will receive another blog in about a months time just to let you know about my Thailand trip. However this blog is mainly for me to see that it all works!
We left the week before Easter and drove the 1200 kms to Bathurst. Spent the night in Hay ... arriving after dark... had soo much fun trying to pitch the new tent in the dark! Realising I only had one headlight working and the lantern had no gas! I did tell Heath that the new gas bottle wouldnt come filled with gas but he didnt believe me!!! Hmmmmm....
The next day we left bright and early for Bathurst, where we spent a few days catching up with Sonya and the Fish family. Sharyn and Grahams 3 girls were all being christened on Easter Sunday so we hung around for that, then left that afternoon for the Blue Mountains (my favourite place in the world so Finally Set Up!
It took us to almost strangle each other but it eventually was done! far). While in Bathurst we went to Annies Icecream Parlour where I used to go all the time as a teenager! I had my favourite Sofala Gold (massive chunks of honeycomb in creamy vanilla icecream) and Heath discovered his new favourite - Jaffa. All icecream is homemade and the best! Needless to say we went there more than once. On Good Friday we had dinner with Sonny at some overrated restaurant. Nice but not worth the money! They gave us cheap mini easter eggs with the bill, which Sonny promptly spat all over my top! Nice! I still have the stain Sonya!!!!!
We decided to spend the first night in the Blue Mountainsat the new backpackers in Katoomba, since the nice place we had booked didnt have any vacancies until the following day. When we arrived the foyer area looked pretty good, although even though it was 6pm at night they didnt have our room ready. We booked their most expensive room (about $50) expecting something pretty nice considering it was a backpackers! Well lets just say that neither of us were resting our heads on THOSE pillows for one second!! We got our money refunded and went in
Dinner with Sonny!
This was us before a few drinks! All lady like!! It wasnt to last long! search of new accommodation (which is pretty impossible on Easter weekend, when the BM's is Sydneys little weekend getaway location for HALF of Sydney!!!!).
We ended up in the most luxurious bed and breakfast for about $180 for the night! Hilarious!
The following day we moved to our already booked 'nice' accommodation which turned out to be so gorgeous. Open fire, spa bath, four poster bed!!! Very romantic! The next couple of days involved some bushwalking, eating and showing Heath where I used to live! I have forgotten how good the food and service is there!!! Adelaide has terrible customer service and being in the Blue Mountains again was a stark reminder. We found the BEST bakery in the whole world and couldnt get enough of their gourmet pies... My favourite was Tandoori Chicken and Yoghurt Pie.... Unbelievable!
Our last night was spent at a very expensive french restaurant called The Rooster! It was one of the best meals we have had in a long time!! The following day we headed home! Another 1200 km's to go. We did stop in Bathurst for another icecream from Annies!
