Dear followers, I'm back with an update about my trip to the Blue Mountains.
I got up very early and went with a friend from the same hostel, to the pick-up point. At 7AM we were already on our way for a big adventure !
We almost had 2 accidents due to stupidity of other drivers, luckily the bus driver kept his head cool and avoided them.
The day started with a visit to the
Featherdale Wildlife Park, we were able to pet the kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, koala's, emus, ... all the typical Australian animals you can think off !
We got 1 hour to walk through the Park on our own and do whatever we want.
It was an absolute unique experience to get this close to the animals in a save environment, therefore I'm also blessed with several beautiful pictures, which I'm able to share with you guys 😉.
After this we head off to the blue mountains, these are situated in the NSW region. They are called the Blue Mountains due to their foggy blue glow. It was a very clear day and this phenomenon was even easier to experience.
The view of the mountains with their native Australian animals, deep
gorges, waterfalls and untapped bushes is breathtaking. This massive "wilderness" is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are more than 92 different species of eucalyptus trees present in the Blue Mountains National Park. For some of the plants/trees, bush fires are necessary for further development of the forest.
The koala feeds on 4 species of the eucalyptus trees, if they are not present in the area, the koala bears won't stay in this area.
To fall back on the Blue Mountains, we walked over 400 stairs down the mountain and it was a breathtaking moment and an absolute advisable trip for every visitor of Australia !
We then headed off for a delicious BBQ, to take a rest for this exhausting walk. It was a nice moment to get to know each other a little better and to have a nice conversation with all of the fellow travelling companions.
The last stop for our trip was the legend story of an Aboriginal tribe. There were once 2 Aboriginal tribes living fairly close to each other. One tribe leader had 3 daughters and he was a wizard and the other tribe leader
had 3 sons and he was a warrior. The second one ordered his sons to get married and told them about the 3 beautiful girls living in the other tribe.
The wizard obviously saw this coming and changed his daughters into rocks. The sons were very angry about him and quickly tried to attack him, he changed himself in a bird and fled.
After he was save, he wanted to change back, but lost his staff and couldn't change back or use his magical powers. The girls are still waiting for their father to recover his staff and magical power to change them back.
The Aboriginal tribes refer to the 3 rocks as the 3 sisters.
The trip was finished and we headed back to the beloved Sydney, with a nice add-on to our memory.
I hope this story about the beloved trip captured your attention and remember, if you are ever going to Australia,... This is a MUST-DO !!
Regards,
Maxim
