Feb 5,6 Batemans Bay
We wound up here by default as we had planned to head to Canberra today, but last night was a very hot, stuffy night with not a lot of sleep, and today was very hot as well. We actually started down the highway to Canberra when we both said enough is enough. We turned around and stopped off at the Tourist Information and asked them for an accommodation suggestion,. They recommended a family run motel that is comfortable, clean, with a view the bay. Best of all, it is air conditioned. What more could we ask for. Most of the day has been spent sleeping and hiding from the heat. (It is hot and humid with storms still brewing in the area.
Woke up the next day to a misty rain but we both felt totally renewed so we booked into a river cruise. It was just a nice wy to spend the afternoon and see some of the area. One of the crew was quite interested in Canada and we spent quite a bit of time talking about the area, especially the bears. Batemans Bay is a nice a cute spot and has been

Had to be raised so our cruise boat could get through. a quite couple of days.
Feb 7 Gerringong
We are still on the East coast just south of Sydney. We are taking our time as we are planning on meeting up with Reuhlans and Zabots in Newcastle on the 12th. So we stopped at Kiama which is a very pretty, touristy spot. One of its features is a large blow hole that really shoots up the water. We spent some time looking around for accommodations and finally went to the tourist information again where the lady there checked a few places but they were beyond our budget. She then recommended a place in Gerringong, ( also beyond budget) that we decided to take for a few days. This is our treat time. We are in self contained unit that is in the owner’s backyard. Tralee is supper comfy and have enjoyed the down time. On our second full day here we headed up to the Illawarra Fly Tree Top Walk. This is the 3rd one we have been on but this one was spectacular. The walk is built out over a cliff so the height is high. The walk, plus some of the look outs in the area
look out over the coastal farm lands and beaches. Well worth the trip.
Day two was a wet one so we drove into Wollongong, just another big city, and returned to the unit. Spent the day just hanging around.
Feb. 10 Katoomba
The day has been spent traveling up the coastal tourist drive, and over the Sea Cliff Bridge. Got lost in Liverpool (not England) and finally made it here. There was so much traffic coming this way that I was getting concerned about what this place would be like, but in true Australian fashion, it is another very mice place. It is an older community that has kept its own personality. Our hostel is a large building on main street that looks like it may have been an old hotel. Nice. Looking forward to getting out and exploring tomorrow.
