6 Dead Marines
Yep,That what they call them DAY 521--525
Well another week gone and what can we say, it went in the blink of an eye as usual.
It is strange really how we have settled into our existence here in Canberra as if it was just one of those things that we did in our old lives 10,000 miles away, working, shopping, getting a hair cut its all the same really, just the weather is better.
Talking about the weather we are nearly into winter here, the morning and nights are getting colder but the days are still up and around the early 30’s, which is nice, however this week saw our very first frost, I actually had to scrape the frost from the windscreen.
At the moment we are house sitting for Keith and Jan which is nice, they have a lovely home that is easy to live in and it’s a pleasure to be here.
The strange thing is I have had to most horrendous bout of man flu, yes fella’s I was verging on death but managed to pull myself through. I know I must have been feeling rough as I came home from work on Friday in the middle of the day and went to bed, but as I type this on Saturday afternoon I still feel off, but slowly getting there.
Still after 16 months virtually constantly travelling, neither of us had felt unwell at all, but as soon as we get some home comforts, like heating I get sick, it just goes to show, being indoors must be unhealthy.
We were analysing our existence or what we class as another phase of this trip, as I call it, we both agree that we have not got the travelling out of our systems yet and I reckon we will be off again maybe this time next year or may be earlier, if the piggy gets filled quicker, who knows, just watch this space.
What we are sure about is that we will buy a new camper trailer, it may be a T-Van, Kimberley or Cub camper we just have to decide which and it goes without saying we are still working on swapping the Patrol for a 75 Series V8 cruiser, (Andy is still working on that, I like the Patrol!)
Our life may seem little nomadic for some, but we are so enjoying it, we both agree that we will not rush into getting a mortgage for a while we have played that game and was bored with it, whilst we still have our home in the UK that is rented out we are happy to enjoy the life as a traveller.
Thank god for Skype is all we can say it has kept us in touch with all our friends and families back home and I have been delighted to speak to my delightful mum who is 80 (Don’t tell her I told you so) and she definitely has a new lease of life and is loving every minute of new life in her care home with lots of friends, loads of things to do and she gets to see my sister and her grand children on a weekly basis, so this has my mind at ease, my sister said that my mum had a better social life than she did.
The blog is still going OK, I understand the views are slowing down, but we have passed 61,000 hits on our site and typed just over 700,000 words and taken approximately 20,000 digital photo’s between us.
It is important that we keep going with it as if we stop we may never get started again and that will not be good when we get going again.
So stick with us, we are trying our best to make it interesting.
Our regards
KJ

This is completely irrelivant but...
Thought you'd be interested in checking out this website, if you haven't already, it's called Pomsinoz.com - a forum for people that want to move or have moved to Australia :-) found it whilst doing some googling and joined up....even though Australia is now years away! :-)
