hey guys, sorry i know its been like a week since i have written anything stuffs been a bit crazy and havent really had access to a computer. anyway we left melbourne like a week ago and drove down to a place called phillip island which is about an hour away. its a little island literally below melbourne. we went and saw a load of koalas in the wild and then booked a place on the penguin parade. this basically is where the penguins run up the beach everynight to feed thier young at sunset. so at like half 7 we were sitting in the freezing cold on the beach but then literally thousands of penguins came runnning up the beach, in groups of around 50. it was awesome, quite funnny as well as the penguins are afraid of the seagulls and the seagulls knew about this chasing the penguins back into the water. had a wicked night and wenjt back and stayed in barry. The next day we were up and out of the caravan park by 10 and on the round again. we drove through loads of places that are literally hillbilly land, texas chainsaw massachre coming into my head lol. we stopped of at the 90 mile beach which is pretty self explanitory. the beach spot was so isolated with a beach that cold strech as far as the eye could see and a beautiful ocean, we were sitting on our own was breath taking. we stayed in a free little campsite that night and in the morning got reay to leave. me being the smart bugger had parkered barry on a slight downhill slope in sand after it had rained, so yes we got stuck. the back left wheel was literally beried and we tried pushing and driving off only to get it dug in more. i got a little angry calling barry a few swear words and punching him. claire was the calm one tho and bhailed down someone in another campa van who came to have a look. he realised he couldnt get us out with his car but went up to the town to try and someone, we thought he would never come back. but no he bought back hillbilly joe with his tartan top on and his wolly hat, in 25 heat, and his 4x4. he pulled out barry without any hassle and litterally saved our skins. so we got back on the road again and headed up the east cost. we got to a really nice little town called lakes entrance and found a hostel, seriously nice to have a shower. we then met this strange guy who started off by giving us eye blockers to "help us sleep" a bit wierd to say the least. he was then asking us if we had photos and i replied their all on our computer.... unfortunatly. he then shower us his and told us all about his whole family and him being born again christians......ahhhh. we made our excuses and went and made dinner, claire at this moment literally shaking with fear so we had dinner, which wa sreall fit chiken in honey and mustard sauce with mash. we decided we didnt like the guy or the place so drove about 200km away trying to reach canbarra but not having enough petrol and haviong to stay in the truck stop till morning when the petrol station opened back up again. we filled up and got back on the way to canberra getting their around 1 in the afternnon to find the yha was fully booked, figures. we spent about an hour driving around canberra trying to find somewhere to stay, the place is like a bloody maze! finally we found a campsite that cost like 15 quid a night and decided to stay for 4 nights. its been really good fun in canberra the first night we just chilled. the second day we went down into the town and had a look around the shps getting some food and checking out the parlimetry house which was pretty cool. yesturday we went down and saw the australian war memorial which was really intyeresting. in the evening we went down to the canberra casino, was pretty scary when we went in thier first and promised ourselves we would only spend 50 bucks. i turned out to be a right card shark at the old black jack and at the end of the night walkked away with like 250 bucks profit. thats like 125 quid woo. were leaving canberra tomorrow and heading up to sydney where all the fun starts and then on to the great barrier reef. should be wicked. just relxing today might go to the cinema in a bit, do some washing and get some food. alls going wicked will speak to you all soon love ya loads. joe
