Halloween is big in the US but particularly in San Francicso. A few days before there were queues at the costume shops because in San Fran, Halloween is for the big kids not the little trick or treaters. The Castro area is famous for having the most outrageous costumes and used to host a huge party where all the streets were closed down. However, something big went down there a few years ago so now although the party goers still turn out, the streets are left open and the police presence is ramped up.

Lyn and I went out to Castro once it got dark - caught the bus up there and had a drink in Twin Peaks - one of the famous pubs in the area. Did I mention that the Castro area is a favourite hangout of transsexuals? I think I got the right word - men who like to dress up as women. It's also a well known gay area and Halloween was not unlike the Sydney Gay Mardi Gras. I won't say too much else but will let the piccies speak for themselves. Enjoy
