Hey Hey

Today we got up approx 9:30 am. Got ready. Had breakfast. Took some pictures with my aunt & uncle. Then Don was pushing me for us to get on the road to start the drive back....

So off to the road we go. Then we drove and drove and drove. Then we had to pass into the state of california and they actually have like a border stop at the state border. How weird is that? He just asked us where we were coming from and let us go, but I've never seen border patrol in between states. Don said they are watching for illegal mexicans since arizona is so close to mexico border...

Then we turned off onto I95 only to realize there was no food, gas, or anything on this road. I kept telling Don I wanted to go just past there to this "Lovekin" exit where all the signs were for alll the food. But he said no. So then we're driving down this road with a whole bunch of nothing and NO signs. And then I realize we aren't going to make it on gas. So then we had to turn around as the next town is like 28 miles... So that wasted a 1/2 hour so then Don was mad at himself for making us take the wrong first turn / wrong decisions since there is nothing on there. Then we went to Lovekin for food.

We went to Carl Jr.'s. So this was all bad. I asked for just a $6 burger -- their #1 seller. Then I am telling the lady "no pickles, no onions and no mustard" and she's telling me it doesn't come with pickles and mustard (even though I knew it did). But whatever. I told her like THREE times. Then Don ordered his "#7" meal which is $6 burger meal. So then Don tells me that when we were in vegas and he picked up Carl Jr.'s for me he just got me the "classic burger" and not the $6 one made from angus and yet i thought I was eating the angus since i have NOT eaten a fast food hamburger from like McDonald's, Wendy's, BK, Carl Jr.s, etc. in like 20 years!! I was sooo traumatized. I was like "I can't believe you did that to me! I only eat it when I know it's real meat - like the angus and not potentially oatmeal, rat parts, etc...." I was like "you'd feed me dog and pretend it's beef..." Then we go to get our meals around the corner at pickup window and lady is like "Ok, one $6 guacamole burger and meal". What? Um no, who in their right mind would order a guacamole, bacon burger? Eeeew. So then I was like "no". So then she KNEW she had screwed up but instead tried to blame us and Don asked her straight out "What is your #7 meal?" and she said it was the guacamole burger. I know for SURE it wasn't. She's a total liar. So then we drive away and start driving and I am trying to wipe some guacamole off the burger so Don can eat it -- he doesn't mind a little guacamole -- but then you know how I am with mushy green foods -- it looked like bird pooh on a burger -- especially when it mixed in with the mayo on the burger. Double ick. So then I have to get past the psychological trauma of bird pooh on Don's burger to then eat mine. So I go to open my burger box and my burger has ALL the things I didn't want - mustard, pickles and onions (so she lied about all that too saying it didn't come on there -- even though I knew it did). So we obviously had to go back. I can't eat that. Don was sooo mad. So he went inside and talked to manager -- she gave us back the $4 and made my burger HERSELF to make sure it was right and then gave Don my burger -- which was what he wanted so we threw away the guacamole one. Then Don said the girl at the window walked by while he was inside and was looking at him and he turns to her and he's like "Ya, you're sooo funny". I am sure after that he was swearing under his breath or something. Nothing we hate more than stupid people but also it's even worse when they are stupid, screw up, then try to convince you that you are stupid and then lie to cover their own stupidness. Now that might work on some people since we were in the middle of butt nowhere america, but it doesn't work on us 😊

Anyway, so all the turnarounds, and getting gas, and burger fiasco wasted like an hour!!

Then back on the road to "nowhere" that we were on that has NOTHING on the trail. But the other super weird part of it was that it was sooo hilly. And so you are driving along and lots of dips and hills / bumps and so it ended up being like a roller coaster ride at the PNE. I literally started to feel sick as we just ate and now I am going up and down like a roller coaster -- some hills were so high and you drive the speed limit but then you "lose" you stomach at the top of the hill.... We kept travelling along there to Vidal Jct, then through the mojave desert, blah blah blah all the way back to Vegas.

Then checked into our floor to ceiling, 600 sq ft room at the Rio with a strip view. The poopie thing was that I booked online and actually paid extra for a view room, but then it didn't come up on her screen so she pretended they were giving us an upgrade for free as like good customer service. I should have printed out my confirmation. Because now I can't get late checkout since they gave us their "special upgrade'.. But anyway, room is awesome. And we both like this hotel....

We didn't get here til 6 pm -- so much later than we thought. Then we puttered around the room, got the luggage from the car, etc. THen we were supposed to be meeting my other aunt & uncle that are in vegas right now celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and staying at flamingo -- but given they were checking in at 3 pm and they thought we were checking in at like 4 pm, when I called their room, they were no where to be found 😞

Then we went downstairs to Buzio's restaurant -- my favourite steak and seafood restaurant here. We both had rib-eye steaks that came and were like 10 oz. Way too much for me. But mine had a tonne of fat 😞 So by the time I cut it all away I got my usual 4 oz and then I had candied carrots with it. Don ordered risotto with his as the waitress recommended it but it was sooo rich -- too rich to eat as it was a parmesan cheese, wine and something else risotto and just tasted sooo heavy.

Then we hung out at flamingo to find my relatives -- no such luck. Then we went on the strip and did our usual round, went to piano bar for few minutes at Harrah's, our $1 margaritas at Casino Royale, karaoke at O'Sheas, then karaoke at Imperial Palace. Then we took pictures of these two hookers. There were sooo many hookers out tonight or we're getting better at spotting them. I had to get a picture of this one as she was wearing a shirt and ONLY tights on the bottom -- no skirt, dress or anything. Just black tights. So you could ENTIRELY see through them to her black thong underwear and it was sooo weird as she looked like she left the house and forgot her bottoms ha ha ha

Don was actually going to sing for me at karaoke (how sweet since he never has before!) but by the time he asked the guy - it was too late and they had enough volunteers until closing.

The it was sooo weird as this guy showed up at a table in front of us (he was sort of rubby homey g with like no teeth) and he was trying to hit on these two plump 40-ish ladies. I could hear one of them say "Oh, you say that now, but you won't say that tomorrow". Ick. I told Don I thought he was a male hooker (unattractive, but still one) but Don said no that he's just some dude hoping to shack up with these older ladies.... Or get some free drinks or place to stay. Ick.

So we left there. Back to our hotel. Eat in the restaurant -- way more expensive than Lucky's. I had french toast for like $9.99 I think and the egg breakfast was $8.99 compared to $3.99 at Lucky's.

Then I am in the room doing my blog and now it's time for bed at 4:15 am. Don is downstairs trying his luck again at poker.

Til tomorrow
