I'm sure many of you remember my special friends, David & Mark Hansen. Their mother, Deborah, is my good friend. I was David's first babysitter and he and I started going out on "dates" when he was in pre-school. Later, when Mark got old enough, the three of us went. I could go on and on about the Hansen family, (and often do) but suffice it to say they are incredible in every way and very dear to us

It seemed as if I hadn't been gone a single day let alone 15 years when we old friends got together. These special women (Suzie Barrickman, Tandy Wallack and Sally Carter), me and several others used to get together for birthdays - always a nice restaurant of which the Turnagain House was one of our favorites. We talked all night and I still felt we hadn't covered everything! I've seen Tandy and Suzie many times in the intervening 15 years, but hadn't seen Sally in a good while, so it was a special evening.

We also traveled to Soldotna to visit our half-brother, Gary and wife Sylvia. They were in the middle of "fish camp," i.e., smoking and canning salmon - did we time it right or what! We had the best fish dinner and took home some jars too.

On the way back to Tuson from Alaska I stopped in Seattle for a long weekend with daughter Christina (Mark was out of town) and of course by Christina I mean EVAN!! Sorry Chris, it IS all about Evan these days!

I didn't have a group shot of our AZ-Sonora Desert Museum graduating class (20 of us), so this one of me and my cohorts in humor will have to do. Nathan was the class "mascot" from day 1. The three of us became Study Buddies (acing all the exams I might add - yeah us!) and good friends

It was not only BJ's 80th birthday, but a mini-reunion. We met many of BJ & Rob's grandchildren - wonderful young people who renew your hope for the future

By far the saddest event in 2007 was the passing of Bernard's brother-in-law, Charlie Tyrrell. He was only 65, left a wife and 7 children and will be trememdously missed

I like to call this my "Soprano" group - don't they look like they are "mobbed-up?" Of course they are not, just good friends - Charlie was half Italian and Michael seemed to get those genes

Chris, Claudia & Charlie's oldest, was amazing - he stepped in and was an amazing help to Claudia, as were all the kids - they made us extremely proud

Marie, Claudia & Charlie's youngest, and Colleen, the middle daughter, along with Denise, organized all the photos, food, accommodations, etc. - amazing young ladies

Tom and Janet Dougherty; daughter-in-law Holly; daughters Regina and Adrienne Claudia (and Bernie's) brother Tom, wife Janet and many family members came many miles to pay their respects. There were so many family members and friends, but unfortunately I didn't get photos of them all.

For Thanksgiving daughter JJ joined her sister and family, plus us, in Newark, CA (near San Francisco) for Thanksgiving.

We also spent a day in Santa Cruz at the beach and a nearby amusement park - Evan by far preferred to play with dad on the beach. That night we went to a fancy restaurant and Evan stayed in his chair (not a highchair) and conducted himself beautifully - you should have seen the looks of relief on the wait-staffs' faces when we left. I don't think they'd ever seen such a well behaved child!

Thanksgiving time brings Christina's and Evan's birthdays as well. We are usually together, so it is a fun celebration. Evan turned 2, is healthy, growing fast, and learning a new word a day it seems. He remains a sweet and loving child

Terrific!
Hey B and K! Thank you sooooo much for sharing such wonderful stories and photos of you, family and your travels--what a great way to keep everyone updated on your many adventures! Congrats, K on your graduation from your Desert Museum course....I know it was a challenge given your already hectic schedule, but you got through it. If I can ever find my way out to AZ....I'd love to check out the museum. BTW.....don't know if you're planning any trips to Europe in the coming weeks, but if so, I would love to meet up with you in Switzerland during the second week of Feb. '08, which is when I will be there for a training. I then hope to stay on a few extra days to enjoy the sights of Switzerland as well as some of the neighboring countries. Thanks again for sharing all those wonderful pics! ciao, ciao.... Shondra
