On the way down the Kenai Peninsula we passed the Russian River where they were 'combat fishing' - so many people you have to fight for your spot

Looks like some Germans have moved into the abandoned boat. The spit has character - saw a naked guy bathing in the ocean; tents all along the water

This was the perfect time to see glaciers - all the summer melt had taken place but it hadn't started snowing again, so the glacier were prominent

Wonderful marshes along the road - usually full of birds, but this was an in-between season. In the spring there is a wonderful cacophony with thousands of Arctic terns breeding here

Just north of Anchorage is the Matanuska Glacier - so close to the road you can get guided hiking/climbing tours on it

I loved hearing about this trip in person, but really enjoyed reading about it too. the photos were especially gorgeous (loved the prarie dog!). Thanks again for your hopsitality in Tucson -- loaning me your car, Bernie's early morning pick-up and drop-off, above and beyond the call of friendship!! awaiting your return to Ecuador...you'd be amazed at the changes!
