February 2020. We are still in Tucson, Arizona, well, often anyway. We continue our wanderings and enjoying our adventures. We haven't lived outside the US in awhile, but have lived in: Guatemala, Ecuador, the Netherlands (twice), Germany (twice) and South Africa. Flew back to Anchorage from Germany and my first night back I had dinner with long-time friends Sally, Suzie, Tandy and Sharon

On the way down the Kenai Peninsula we passed the Russian River where they were 'combat fishing' - so many people you have to fight for your spot

Looks like some Germans have moved into the abandoned boat. The spit has character - saw a naked guy bathing in the ocean; tents all along the water

Grandview Glacier

This was the perfect time to see glaciers - all the summer melt had taken place but it hadn't started snowing again, so the glacier were prominent

Along the Kenai Peninsula

Wonderful marshes along the road - usually full of birds, but this was an in-between season. In the spring there is a wonderful cacophony with thousands of Arctic terns breeding here

Just north of Anchorage is the Matanuska Glacier - so close to the road you can get guided hiking/climbing tours on it

I loved hearing about this trip in person, but really enjoyed reading about it too. the photos were especially gorgeous (loved the prarie dog!). Thanks again for your hopsitality in Tucson -- loaning me your car, Bernie's early morning pick-up and drop-off, above and beyond the call of friendship!! awaiting your return to Ecuador...you'd be amazed at the changes!
