Still looking for that elusive bear, drove up the "Canyon" road stopping at the walk to the brink of the Lower Falls again. Quite a strenuous walk when you come back up the hill, a good switchback trial (zigzag path), and we were so impressed with the view we had to do it again.
No bears, lunch at Fishing Bridge, then we went for a visit to the Yellowstone Park Hotel (one mile from Fishing Bridge). This hotel is a protected building and was renovated in 1990. What a magnificent old hotel.
Outside was parked one of the rebuilt tour buses, they are pretty good replicas.
Had a sit by the lake and met a park employee which was very interesting, basically Yellowstone closes at the end of September until the beginning of May except for Monmouth and winter skiing at Old faithful area, then they dig out the roads and buildings in May (snow) ready for the tourist season. $15 a day. A lot of the workers come back year after year.
Back to the Camp and washing etc, then the afternoon thunderstorm hit, one crack had to come from the roof of the RV, it certainly
gave us a fright.
