It was our last day here at Colter Bay so we just had to make sunrise. We struggled to get up, grabbed our coffee, chairs and Oscar and headed for the beach. We didn’t quite make it but the lighting was breath taking anyway. There is a saying about “Life is not measured in the breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away” This was one of those. It was still except for a little wave lapping on the shore, cold and clear and just unbelievable. I kept taking pictures hoping to capture the moment but it can’t be captured in a little image. I remember telling my niece Beth that very same thing, but you still have to try. The mountains just don’t look real and you keep looking at them trying to figure out how they got there. Picures
Notice where Oscar is. He loves Denise.
So it was pack up the camp, secure the camper, do the dishes, walk the dog and head southeast. We decided to take the scenic route through Dubois and then on to Rocky Mt. Nat’l Park. There was road construction and about a 10 min wait and to make it easier to tolerate the WY road dept handed out a cd about the road we were on, it’s history, and some folk songs by local “artists”. It was hoakie but we enjoyed the music and legends and the time passed quickly. There was an overlook that we drove to and got our last look at the Tetons from 50 miles away, pretty amazing. Picture
We stopped in Dubois to have lunch but had to do a little shopping first. We went into a jewelry store to find it was also the bead store that was closed the last time I was through town several years earlier. I just had a good old time buying beads, but I didn’t stop there, I found a ring I couldn’t live without so that came home with me too. After all it was just my birthday.
We found a wonderful little place for lunch and sat outside in the sun and listened to the breeze and the creek roll by. I grabbed a local newspaper to check on the internet later for places for sale, I just have to live here…
On the road again, we encountered so many different terrains, geological formations, and antelope. This must be antelope heaven..pictures.
We finally reached rt 80 and headed west so we could pick up another scenic road through CO. We found a nice rv park real close to the highway and settled in for the night.
