June 21-22
Friday morning Ty and family arrived back in town just before noon. Shortly afterward Ty had the camper pulled in next door and the whole gang worked to get it set back up. It was windy and cool but dry at this point.
Gene and Nan had invited the whole bunch of us, including Jerry and Karen to their house for a cookout, hamburgers and hotdogs. They also invite our nephew Jon and his family, who live in Wheatland Wyoming. It was so good to see everyone. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, rain and wind and really cold, but Gene’s garage, where the refrigerator is, was all set up with tables and the heater was running!! Red and Dottie were beside themselves. I think Dottie sat in every lap, and climbed across the table at one point! Not good!! Red, his nose at table height, was perusing the food, bowls of salads, condiments, deserts and of course hotdogs and burgers, and his favorite, cheese. To my knowledge he didn’t taste but his e-collar may be all that kept that from happening. We had lovely evening, everyone did. There were lots of extra hands to help setup and cleanup
so I hope it wasn’t too much for Gene and Nan who’d already had a tough week. It was like a mini-family reunion.
Our gang headed back to our campers and though we talked to Ty briefly we decided it was best to make it an early night. We did worry whether Ty’s family would be warm enough because it was cold, in the 30’s that night.
The next morning Silvia cooked breakfast in their new camper. She wanted to try out her new kitchen. Yep, we got those great yellow bottle Pillsbury pancakes. This time it was even more fun because Ty was creating pictures with the pancakes: sun, spelled out MOM, turtle, birthday cake and a rabbit. It was so fun. I remember how David would do that for the boys when they were little. The sausage and eggs were good too!
After a late breakfast we all loaded up and headed for the gun range. It’s and indoor range and we all got to shoot. I put 75 9mm rounds through my new pistol Ty made me for Mother’s Day. I put another 25 rounds through my Kimber 9mm. It was so much fun!
I’m a good shot too. Somebody breaks in they are a goner! LOL. David shot a little but mostly helped me. Ty, Silvia, Kat and Colby shot Ty’s new 22 pistol and his other pistol. We all had a great time. It was also fun because the owner, Roy Kern, knew my dad and then David met the daughter of a man he knew when he was at the Sheriff’s office long ago, Bob Sexton.
After shooting we all headed home, David and I stopped for groceries, and David got cookies, of course. Girls took a nap and David, Ty and I watched Abbott and Costello meet the Mummy movie.
Dinner was back at the library for celebrating Katelyn’s birthday. Jerry, Karen, Stacy, Gene, Nan, Ty, Colby, Silvia Katelyn, and David & I all attended. Then we met back at our trailer for cake and songs. Silvia got Katelyn a double layer lemon bundt cake. We all had such a nice time. Katelyn got a new 20 gauge over and under shotgun to shoot trap with, from her parents and Colby. We gave her cash as going to school and getting married next year she needs that the
Dad and Colby give Katelyn her gift!
What every 4th degree black belt needs, more weapons! most.
It wasn’t long before everyone headed for home. Jerry and Karen leave tomorrow, as do Ty and family, and we’ll be pulling out tomorrow too. We said our goodbyes to Gene, Nan and Stacey. We’ve enjoyed our stay so much and we know it will be a long while before we see them again.
It’s been a great weekend. We headed to bed as the wind started whipping up again and the temperature was dropping. I worried about the kids next door but they know they can come knock!
