Ilwaco, WA

North Head Lighthouse, north of the mouth to Columbia River was first activated in 1898. Now the brick principal keeper’s house and half of the duplex assistant keeper’s house are available for overnight rental or special events such as weddings; the other half of the assistant keeper’s house is a ranger residence. Ownership of the light station was transferred to Washington State Parks in November 2012. The state and a preservation group are working to repair and restore the lighthouse located on a rocky headland at the mouth of the Columbia River.

Cape Disappointment Lighthouse was first commissioned in 1856. It is painted with horizontal black and white bands, lantern black. This lighthouse is also located at the mouth of the Columbia River, just a few kilometers from North Head Lighthouse.
