it starts out flat Mileage – 315.6
It was a typical morning – getting up, eating, packing and taking off. I decided it was going to be a lot of driving and I had a few people at work that would like me to check on some stuff for them so, Susan drove and I logged in and worked. I could hear Susan and Pam talking and every once in a while they would say, good picture opportunity, and I’d look up, turn on the camera and snap..
At one point, I did check trip advisor and saw both a petrified forest and a horse sculpture. They were within a few miles of each other. I went back to work. As we got close to the items, Susan saw an overlook and she and I hopped out. Pam stayed in the car for a few minutes and was on the phone. Susan and I were down by the gorge when we heard a car alarm going off. We laughed, we wondered if it was Parker – sure enough it didn’t stop. Susan ran up the hill. I figured it was probably Susan locking the door before Pam opened her door. You see, I

The gorge did this several years ago. If the car is locked as a door is opened from the inside, yep it goes off and it’s a bear to turn off. So Pam is inside and the car is going off and everyone in the parking lot is staring at her. Susan gets up there and has to get in the car and turn the car on and then hit the alarm button to stop it.
Pam and I then went down to look at the river and gorge. After that we headed to the horse sculpture, but you had to do a U turn around the interstate… We got to the exit and I saw that it was also the one for the Petrified Forest so I suggested we drive by there first. We saw some of the Petrified Forest, but on the way we saw a gem/rock shop. After driving thru the park, we stopped at the shop. If you followed us last year, you know we all bought rocks. Well, we did again, but except this time it was petrified wood. I bought 2 nice pieces and they both bought stuff too. This was our find for shopping

petrified wood for the trip. The owner asked if we were sisters and if Susan and Pam were twins… When then headed to the horse sculpture. It looks like wild horses running on the hill and must have had 15 or so horses in it.
We then got back on the road and headed into Seattle. I continued to work and Susan and Pam continued to talk. The roads (interstate) got bad and there was construction at times. There was also a good breeze so I know it was difficult for Susan to drive.
We got to Seattle and headed down to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. Both Susan and I love glass works and she had been to this exhibit before. It was great and yes, we could buy items (smaller ones) afterwards, but neither of us wanted to spend the $8K+ for the smaller items. We then went to the space needle to see if we could get early (5pm) reservation for dinner. Nope, the earliest was a 7:15 reservation. Well, it was only 4 so we made the reservation and walked down to the fish market area. I got my steps in for today.
In the

More petrified wood, not petrified Susan market we saw the fish handlers (throwing fish), the flower market, the vegetable market and many craft areas. We did buy some local fruit. There was a lot of fruit I’ve never seen before like sapphire grapes so we had to try them. We walked back to the needle and got there a bit before our reservation. On the way back someone on the road again asked if Susan and Pam were twins.
If you eat at the restaurant, you also get to go to the observation deck. Since our table wasn’t ready, we went there before dinner. The view of Mt Rainer was great and we could see the Ferris wheel and all into the bay. We have been so lucky with the weather on this trip. Oh, yes, the temperature here in the western portion of the state is about 25 degrees less than the eastern side. When we got out in Seattle, it felt chilly.
We got the txt that said our table was ready and we walked down the floor to the restaurant. Our table was not against the window but we still had a great view. Dinner was grand. I had a fish

i miss my kitties.. This one was in the gem shop stew and Susan and Pam had the scallops. We then ordered 2 deserts to split between us. The waiter put the chocolate one in the dry ice dish and it sure came out smoking. A kid from the next table came over and said he really wanted one of those. The waiter asked if we were siblings, then asked if we were twins or even triplets. Well, what I wanted to say was yes, we are identical. But we said, we were just sisters. Do we really look that much alike???
We watched the sunset and got some good pictures, then paid our bill and left. As we were leaving the parking garage, Susan asked for directions to the hotel. I said give me a minute and I’ll get my phone. Where is my phone??? Pam, call it. No ringing… Oh, it must have fallen out when my purse fell in the floor at the restaurant as I got up to take pictures of Mt Rainer at sunset. So we called the restaurant and headed back. Luckily the phone was there, they sent it down on the elevator and we were off. Phew.
We headed down the road

horse sculpture. and made it to our hotel. Yes, it was later than we wanted, but we made it. We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriot (yes, on points). This is almost in Tacoma which is south of Seattle.
