Me, and the kiddos at the Space needleWe will be relocating to Seattle sometime in the first quarter of 2018. After 15 years in Arizona, I'm a little apprehensive about moving to a city that is 3 times the cost of living with a kid going to college and no home. But that is that, and its all water under the bridge sine the move is happening. So this fall break has us making a road trip to the Pacific North West; the up-side to it all is that, I so love road trips and an excuse to eat badly while on the road (laughing out loud). It took us 5 days on the road because we made stops in Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Glacier National Park, and Tacoma. 3 nights in Seattle is all we had on this trip and it was filled with stops at the Pike Place Market, Space Needle, the Waterfront and a ride on the giant wheel.
The Great Seattle Wheel: Take a ride on the great wheel - a top the wheel, one gets a breath-taking view of puget sound and most of west Seattle, it really is something to experience. Naturally my son loved it, while my daughter was throwing

The Great Seattle Wheela teenage tantrum because she was forced to come on the ride with us, when she did not want to. The large shipping containers and ferries can be seen crossing Eliott bay.
The Waterfront Restaurants: Seattle is known for its fresh seafood, so the best way to enjoy it, is really at the waterfront where you can get it while seated at the Pier.
Pike Place Market: Seattle's Best Market Place, I rated this expensive because Seattle in general is expensive. The cost of living is high in comparison to other cities in the United States. We made a stop at the market during our Fall break vacation trip. I must admit Pike place reminded me of my childhood and the vegetable and fruit markets of Uganda. It was refreshing to eat fresh exotic fruits and enjoy the smells of fresh fish, meat, fruits and vegetables. The flowers are such a feast for the eyes, my husband and daughter even bought me a bouquet for just $5. If I was living in Seattle at the time, I would have bought some of the fresh seafood and made my own at home. Highly recommended. If you find yourself in Seattle,

There is so much more to see, but since this is not really a touring visit, I have written about the places we visited. There is so much more to the emerald city than the popular attractions like the Space needle and Pike place market. It has an intriguing park system and historical maritime heritage worth exploring.I did the touristic thing, since this was the first time, we were traveling with the kiddos to Seattle and my daughter wanted to see the Space needle.
The Gum Wall: I must admit this took me for a spin the firs time someone mentioned it to me. The fact that it has become one of the most photographed attractions in Seattle is something of a marvel. Located down slop to the right of Park Place market, the gum wall is is this huge 'wall' with chewed gum stuck all over it. To leave your mark (gum), you must come chewing one, or just take a photograph that shows you were there. I was not exception and it turned out to be one of the best things my daughter enjoyed.

The Olympic Sculpture Park: The artist in me would not let me pass this; something about the park is rather soothing and alluring. The park is part of the Seattle Art Museum, which is another attraction you would not want to miss. Remember always that everything is a little on the the expensive side and you will need to have a healthy budget if you are to see all these attractions. Now, whether you like art or not? The Olympic sculpture park is one you must see, if nothing else. Since we will make Washington our home state soon, I will be giving you a first hand blog on everything I, think you will like. All you have to do is get out and see. Travel is Learning.
