The Ballard Centennial Bell Tower

was created to hold the old Ballard City Hall bell at the site where the City Hall stood, and to mark the Ballard Avenue Historic District. There’s an inlaid compass in the floor of the bell tower. The tower is located in Marvin's Garden, a quiet oasis across the street from Bergen Place Park in Ballard. https://gilmanpark.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/ballard-city-hal/ http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=298

Ballard City Hall was demolished in 1967, two years after it was damaged in the 1965 earthquake. Sadly, formation of the Ballard Ave Historical District in 1976 came too late to save the City Hall building. Funds were being raised to automate the bell in the Ballard Centennial Bell Tower, which stands in the location formerly occupied by the Ballard City Hall (1915).

Bravo, Rainy !
To my uniformed eyes it looks as if you hit upon the one or two days when it was bright and sunny in Seattle, which I'd always thought of as being like Vancouver ... rain, rain and more rain. Thank you for these fine shots, and for the wealth of URLs for more information. I didn't know that there was such a large Scandinavian influence out there. It looks like "herself" had a thoroughly enjoyable time, getting a great collection of thoroughly fine shots..
