blog 09-16-17 My Birthday
The first order of business was to take a walk to the beach. At the end of the campground there is a path winding through trees and shrubs first then shrubs and grass then just grass ending at the beach. The ocean is a long way out and is very gradual, no drop off. There were cars on the beach and 3 horses along with just a few people walking.
We were eager to see the dogs reaction to the water and they seemed excited to see what it was all about, until they got their feet wet. Then it was RUN ! They got used to it and all was well until a bigger wave came along and went over Ginnie's boots and froze her feet. Linus was ok with wet feet but Alfie was jumping around and bugging his brother and just enjoying himself thoroughly. We had lots of laughs and enjoyed the dogs and the scenery.
There were 3 horses near us and it looked like one woman was training the horses as she rode each horse one at a time up the beach at a trot and back down at
a full out run. The last horse was beautiful and ran like race horse, seeming to love every minute of the exercise.
I had worn my clogs and took them off at the beach so I just had wet feet but Ginnie now had wet boots and she sloshed with every step. The dogs were wet on their legs and Watson's undercarriage and legs so they collected sand as we walked home. The sand is very fine, almost powder, so it really sticks to all wet places. The dogs had to get wiped and brushed to get the sand off and Ginnie took her's to the hose by the bathhouse to help get the job done.
There is a tourist town just a short drive down the road so we went to investigate and have lunch. Ginnie wanted to take me out for my birthday so after a little shopping we found a great seafood resturant and had delicious meals, enough for dinner too. It just wouldn't be complete without desert so a piece of brownie pie that we had gotten at the grocery was the perfect topper for a great lunch.
When we got back another
walk to the beach was in order which was enjoyed by us and the dogs.
For some reason Watson had decided he has to bark his head off in this campground. He has been pretty good about barking until now but this place has a lot of dogs and some very noisy ones so he must have decided to just tell them all he was here too. Linus and Alfie just look at him and wonder what all the noise is about.
I answered calls all day from my loving family wishing me a happy birthday, then got on Facebook and enjoyed more well wishes. Thank you all, it was a great day.
This is as far west as we can go so now we have to start heading south. We are heading to Long Beach, WA on Wed but have not made formal plans for after that.
