West London to the West Coast
Our apartment is in downtown Kirkland, a "chi chi" (American expression meaning "twee but in a posh way") suburb across Lake Washington from Seattle. If we lean out of the balcony and crane our necks, we can actually see the Lake. The yearly Sea Fair is on this weekend, which involves the Blue Angels (much like the Red Arrows. But blue, obviously) doing swirly tricks over the lake, the super-rich cruising around on giant house-sized yachts, and general debauchery amongst the young'uns of Seattle. I don't have a photo of this because the 'Angels went over our apartment at some speed.
Everything in America is ginormous. We have visited some super-sized stores, including CostCo (like a less chavvy Lidl) where the locals flock to purchase toilet rolls by the thousand and giant peanut butter jars the size of a child's head. Also our car is not a car but more like a small boat. With wheels. I have yet to test it out on the Lake.
Today we collect the Tinker from the airport, fresh from her 9-hour flight in the hold. Unless she's been upgraded to business class too. But
I doubt it.
