World's Foremost Outfitters
Cabela's also has a natural history section and aquarium with monstrous fish Salt Lake City, Utah
We went up on Bill's roof to check if his "swamp cooler" was working. What the hell is a swamp cooler?
It's an alternative to air conditioners that can be used in dry climates.
Swamp coolers sit on the roof and evaporate the water off of a cooler pad of straw. When water evaporates, it absorbs heat and cools the air down. Outside the temperature is 100°F while inside
it's 80°F . Considering it's 20%!h(MISSING)umidity outside and 50%!i(MISSING)nside, it actually feels comfortable.
Cabela's Outfitters is supposedly the second largest tourist attraction after the Mormon Tabernacle.
The outlet in Utah, although not the largest, is huge. It has every outdoor/camping/hunting need possible.
Every section, guns, shoes, tents, etc is large enough to be it's own store.
The gun section features everything from a two-shot derringer, Dirty Harry's 457 Magnum to a Gatling Gun and everything inbetween that you can imagine.
A ride up into the mountains surrounding Salt Lake City took us to Park City a previously abandonned town now an exclusive tourist area featuring skiing and Robert Redford's Sundance Festival. The prime films are a short drive
into the mountains
Guns For Sale
The weapons for sale at Cabela's are interesting enough to form a museum. Ed's considering this gatling gun. to his Sundance resort where he has a screening room for
a select few films. The proximity of Sundance has produced a lot of talent in the area as exemplified by my friend's son winning a local contest with the following:
W i n n e r You can always find a surprise in any city's newspaper. For example, Salt Lake City Tribune of July 27, 2008
offered: "Randy Kraft, condemned Orange County slayer of 16 young men is looking for penpals". Or, "Man, 23 years old, locked his 2 year old son in car to watcha midnight showing of 'The Dark Knight' ". A sign of the times shows a cartoon of a couple driving into a gas station with a sign, "Free Bag of Chips and SUV with Fill Up".
The gas prices here are a little higher than the neighbouring states.
