In mid September, Anne and I traveled to Utah to hike in several areas in the south as well as one hike in the Uinta mountains in the northeastern part of the state. Anne and I started our hiking trips back in 2001 and have managed to get two or three trips in each year since. Most of the trips were part of our quest to hike in all of the US National Parks, a quest we completed in 2015 with our trip to Alaska and the Gates of the Arctic and Kobuk Valley parks. At that time there were 59 parks. Since 2015 we have revisited some of our favorite areas and those have been blogged as well. The Pando Aspen Clone

This is just part of the Pando grove, one of the, if not the, largest living organisms in the world, is all interconnected and each tree has grown from the same root system.

The Heart

Poor picture of a small grove of aspens that grew in the shape of a heart and always are the first to turn red in the fall. Just beginning to turn when we were there.

Stumbled across this small park that preserves the small cabin where Butch Cassidy, alias George Parker, grew up.

This is the Place.

This is the main monument at the park. The actual spot where Brigham Young saw the valley and made his statement is marked by a much smaller marker within the fee area of the park.
