The birth of Christ was backwards. He left bliss to become a baby, born of a virgin in a stinky barn. Instead of escaping the confines of the womb to live a life of freedom, he was born into the confines of humanity. He was repressed for 33 years from showing His fullness of God, living in the imprisonment of the society surrounding Him. His Spirit, that cannot be held back by any chains, seeped into the population bringing healing and miracles. He spoke words of truth in order to break people out of religious beliefs that killed the Spirit. He did it all so that we could know Life. He grew in stature and wisdom and others grew because of His growth. He then passed through anguish so that we could be born again. He died that we may live. He gained his freedom from the womb of the world by saying yes to His death and resurrection. We gain our life by saying yes to Him. He is the best Christmas present ever! There are others that do things sort of against the norm in society. Pastor Stanley and Alice of Spring Valley Academy and Christine of HOREC
Pastor Stanley
Sitting in front of the ground floor that has started to go up of their new rescue center called Talitha Koum ("little girl, get up"). Here they will pull girls up that have been knocked down by poverty and abuse. orphanage are three examples. These are people that left their full time jobs, their full time salaries and their "security" in order to work with the children around them that were destitute and dying. They gave up their lives of comfort, their secure salaries, and added many hours and trials to their lives so that others may live. They are true examples of Jesus in the world.
Here are stories of children benefiting from their devotion:
"My Name Is Joshua Kubasu. I was born on 12th June 1997 in Kyol, Kenya. For a couple of years I didn’t join school. In 2004 when my father moved us from Kayole to Spring Valley I started school. I was very short and black and I remember very well that I was shy and timid! My father used to bring me to school very early because despite the fact that my father is not educated he has always encouraged us to work hard in school. When I joined Spring Valley Academy I was very poor in class as I had not attended school before. We were very poor and I did not have clothing and sometimes we would even sleep hungry. But I want to thank the Lord for using pastor and teacher Alice because over the last 7 years I have been in Spring Valley Academy I have been fed and clothed. I thank the Lord even for the very good quality of education I have been given by the teachers!
I thank God also for the teacher to the teenagers, Teacher Jesse. He has really mentored me to become who I am today! Before I did my KCPE Exams last month I was an A Student and I am very sure that I will do very well in my KCPE National exams that will be out on 27th December! God willing when I join High school I will work hard because I want to be a pilot when I grow up! I thank God for Spring Valley Baptist church and School and what it has done for me!" "My Name is Eunice Wanjiku. I am 12 years old and in class 7. I am the third born in a family of five. Here is my story... We lived in Kipkelyon in the Rift Valley just before the 2007 elections. Life was good. We had a farm where we were growing sugarcane for selling for sugar production. I remember it was a Sunday afternoon 30 December 2007 when the presidential results were announced and president Kibaki was declared the winner. After 1 hour we heard screams from a neighboring village! Many people were running to the nearby forest to hide from gangs that were burning houses and killing people from my community for voting for the president!
We hid in the forest for a few days when we were rescued by the police and soldiers and taken to the Nakuru show grounds. We were given a tent and we lived in the camp for 2 months before we came to Spring Valley through the settlement program of the government for the Internally Displaced Peoples! Pastor and teacher Alice accepted us and we thank the Lord for using them to feed us and give us an education. My elder sister is now a teacher at Spring Valley Academy! I thank the Lord for teacher Jesse also as he encourages us. Through Spring Valley we have hope to face the future!" There are many more stories of the children of HOREC
