Howdy! If you're planning on being in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area I highly suggest you go to the Stockyards in Fort Worth to get a real Texas (aka Tejas) experience. I was previously in Fort Worth, I had an exchange student arrive from Germany and I wanted to show her around. There was actually a group of us with exchange students and we all piled onto a bus and decided to go to the Stockyards.

Eating

While there I noticed many people dressed up with cowboy outfits, Steak Houses (I reccomend a place called Risky's Steakhouse*), even a Stock Yard Hotel! There food here is actually pretty good**, I enjoy ribs but I enjoy steak more, so naturally that's what I requested. It was amazing! Definetly worth trying!

** If I may offer a tip, when in Texas, if the title of the restaurant does have the word steakhouse in it, you will probably get an ok steak as opposed to a real steakhouse.

*This restaurant has actually been visited by The Late Late Show's Craig Ferguson , when he refered to it on his show he said

...when you name your place Risky's, you know it's got to be good!

There are multiple things to do in the Stockyards, however this

scene is for an older crowd (recommended ages: 15+) simply because it's an older setting and younger kids could get a bit squirmy after a while:

Shopping

For those of you who enjoy shopping this is an interesting place for you to shop. Don't come here looking for the cutest and latest fashions, however if you're searching for belt buckles (and I mean real Texas sized ones), jeans (wranglers!), hats, and boots you're sure to find them in the Fort Worth Stock Yard shops. Listed below are just a few of the many awesome shops in the Stock Yards!
