Corpus Christi, Padre island or Port A?? Help!

My mom, cousin & I are taking our first trip together. First we are going to Austin, then where?
I like lively places, the others prefer beaches & shopping. I am torn should go to Corpus Christi, Padre Island or Port A?
I am afraid Padre Island & Port A could be to boring but Corpus Christi could be to touristy. I need your help with suggestions.
