With halloween over and done with I figured it was probably about time I stopped playing tourist and got my life in order,..........great idea in theory now if only there were less music gigs to go to and I stopped getting home at 3am in the morning and sleeping most of the day away then I would've gotten things organsied a lot quicker.
So in between CMA Awards week and all the local talent around town I finally came up with plan B since Plan A of buying the house just isn't going to happen thanks to the American economy.
As of December 6 I am renting a place next to the sub division I wanted to buy in. It's a 12 month lease which works out perfectly because I want to be home for Christmas next year. The apartment comes with fridge, washer, dryer and microwave so I don't have to worry about buying all the big appliances it also has a swimming pool and fully equipped gym. I'm looking forward to getting my own space.
Since I've been having so much fun its getting late in the year to be looking for the full time HR
job so I got myself a job as a Chrstmas casual in one of the US department stores......I made the stupid mistake of telling the Assistnat Manager I wanted to work in womens fashion.......Fair chance my paycheck will now be spent on clothes. The bonus of working there is they have great staff discount so that will hel with buying all the electrical appliances and home furnishings.
So now that all the boring info is out of the way.......CMA Awards week!!! What a BLAST! Monday night Kenny Chesney played Tootsies (300 - 400 person venue) from 9:30am - 1:30am. I was sooooo mad I missed it. It was advertised at the last minute and I had heard it was happening. Billy was playing at 8 so I figured we'd go see him play and then head downtown......Well nothing in Nashville starts on time so Billy went on late and then all my favourite local artists were there so we ended up hanging out and left about midnight. I figured that since Kenny was playing wiht the wailer he would show up at 9:30 play his one song everybody wants to go to heaven and leave. I didn't even think
to drive by and see if anything was happening.......Sooo Mad.
Tuesday night they did a block party as the lead up to the CMA awards......Kevin Costner played and was the headline act he really should stick to acting. Other artists included Rodney Atkins and Heidi Newfield (formerly of Trick Pony) Then Wednesday was the CMA Awards I hung out by the red carpet for a while but it rained most of the day I saw Keith go in for sound check and then hung out with friends in the audience company line to try and get free tickets.....There was no way I was paying $110 for nose bleed seats. I found out Keith had been signing autgraphs and meeting everyone for about 20 mintues so I bolted to the other side of the building only to see him just as he was walking away....Totally PO'd I missed him by like 45 seconds and he'd been hanging out for 30 minutes or so chatting with everyone.
The awards started at 7pm and at about 7:15 they finally came out with all the left over tickets that hadn't sold. Woo-hooooooo Free tix to the hottest event in town gotta love that especially considering it would've come with a $250 price tag had I paid for it. Unfortunatley I missed Keith and Brad doing there new duet Start a Band BUT I did get to hear Keith do his new single Sweet thing and it was the first time I had heard the song....Great song! ANY song where he doesn't use the word sun or sunshine is a good song!
In other updates......I went to Church.....no need to fall off your chairs........I went with Billy and his good looking enterouge of cute boys. It certainly wasn't anything like the church you would expect (except for the preaching part) There wasn't a stained glass window or jesus on the cross in sight. It was held in a movie theatre and of course being Nashville I should've expected it, (but didn't) they had a full band playing christian rock music. none of the old fashioned hymns and no bibles anywhere to be seen. Pretty cool as far as churches go....Personally I was more interested in haivng lunch with the boys afterwards.
I did some volunteer work at a Thrift store last week figured it would be a good way to meet people they do that every Saturday morning but I am headed to Netball training this Saturday. They have an aussie rules football and netball team in town. Footy starts in March and they are hoping to get a netball comp together in Januray so I am going to check that out.
The Corey Batten and Mason Douglas show have played around town a couple of times those boys are hilariious if they weren't great song writers they would definitely make great stand up comics. And then there's always plenty of Mulch Brothers action. Saw them at The Billy Block show last night and we're off to Lewisburg to see them Saturday night. We're also hoping to get the boys a gig in Indiana at the 8 seconds saloon. But we need to get them a lot of votes so girls here's a FUN Friday project for work get everyone in the office to log onto www.8secondssaloon.com. and request The Mulch Brothers on thre perforemer wish list page. You don't need to sign up or register just enter your firtst name, the artist name and then a comment. We need to get these boys as many paying gigs as possible cos they've got songs backed up and are ready to record....I wanna see a new CD before the end of next year and would love a road trip to Indy to see them.
