Guy at JD distillery
WHen can I do some sippin'??? We arrived on a 10 and a half hour overnight train (it was very cold!) in Memphis, collected our car, White Dodge Neon. Then we drove 367miles to a little place many of you will know called Lynchburg, this took us 5 and a half hours through hot, slightly lost and very winding lanes. We arrived at a lovely, quaint B&B, see photos. The following day we visited the Jack Daniel's distillery, the drive was worth the lovely smells alone! The tour was reallly interesting, although Guy would have prefered it if we could have done a little sipping, Lynchburg is in a completely dry county, hard to believe. Then we went for a walk through the Tennessee woodlands. The next day we got up early and drove to Nashville for a walk around and to try on some expensive cowboy hats, then we drove back to Memphis and dropped off our car. In the evening we went out down Beale Street for some much needed beers and blues!!
We slept in a bit this morning (see above to find out why!) Got on a tour to Graceland which was really interesting. Elvis's former home is like a shrine to
The Shoppes at Coker's
The Cokers are everywhere!! him - nothing has been touched since he died - all the decor and furnishings are from the late 70's! (we particulary liked the retro kitchen!) We went inside his 2 private jets (again, untouched since the 70's) and saw his grave. Were making good use of more FREE internet access in our hotel, we've been doing reasonably well on the freeloading front - the JD distillery, free hotel breakfasts, trams & buses. One exceptionally kind airport bus driver gave us $25 to get a taxi into town, just on the condition we send him a Christmas card! Anyways, enough waffling. Hope you're all well, here's some more photos for y'all.......
Pip pip,
