Mount Rushmore

Mt. Rushmore 9/14/2015: Everyone picked up an apple at breakfast to eat later at lunch. Stopped at a rest area at Powder Creek, WY, and feasted on apple slices (thank you, Latha, for bringing along your treasured pocket knife given to you by Giridharmam) and Terra veg chips. A while later stopped in Gilette, WY and had coffee at Starbucks/ McDonalds. Reached Mt.Rushmore National Memorial around 5:30 local time. We were impressed with the granite outcroppings, the Faces of course, and Crazy Horse face (partially done) at another site. Some of us walked the Presidential Walk.Drove down to Keystone for a Mexican meal, and ended up at Himalayan Indian Cuisine when we saw that Mijo's was closed. It was our good fortune, as the meal was very good- everybody's taste buds got rekindled with familiar spices and flavors.Packed up the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Our motel in Hot Springs had refrigerators in the rooms. We found it with the help of a kind citizen who was a customer at Dakotamart, where we stopped for directions after Garmin Mai declared we had arrived in the middle of an abandoned parking lot. The lady got in her car and led us all the way to the motel, on her way home. This was the only time Garmin Mai had erred on our trip. The motel owner/ manager was a Bangladeshi who was very helpful with information encouraging us to visit a number of places in South Dakota, hence proving that Mt. Rushmore is not the only destination for tourists in SD! We went for a small walk after breakfast along the Freedom Trail in this town along Falls River, which included the Kidney Springs Gazebo.
