You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose You're on your own. And you know what you know And YOU are the guys who'll decide where to go. --Dr. Seuss. The New Bothan Taistil is awesome! We decided to upgrade our motor home. We didn’t want to change the Mercedes engine and diesel efficient fuel but wanted more "creature comforts". Well, Winnebago came out with the same engine and a magnificent floor plan, and everything works! It even has a slider. Check it out: Copy this and paste it into the browser http://www.winnebagoind.com/html/products/recVehicles/winnebago/view.html ( We got the “J” series without the couch and more storage.) We are excited. The body is slightl... read more

We traveled to Frank Lloyd Wright's beautiful Fallingwater home; however just down the road we noticed two lonely old airstreams. Further down the road we dipped our toes in the Youghiogheny River. (There will be a spelling test later).... read more

As I passed through to Chicago, I stopped off to meet some friends in Pittsburgh. It was good to meet some familiar faces. I am travelling in the middle of one of the country’s hottest summers and while it is still safe, the sun is very intense. (Sorry for those back home, suffering in the cold HaHa!) Pittsburgh has long moved on from its steel history, but the buildings and character remain. I am sure it will continue to develop and become more of city with a vibrant tourist industry. The old steel rail network has been converted to some awesome bike trials. I wonder do these trails get used as cross country ski paths in winter? ... read more

We still had some traveling to do before making it home to Pittsburgh. On our way to Las Vegas we went to Hoover Dam. That part of Nevada along Lake Meade was stark, dry but surprisingly green from an unusually wet winter and spring. We did spend almost 3 days in Las Vegas with Marra, Bob, Dillon and Ryan. We saw "Ka" an amazing "Cirque du Solei". The casinos are of course devoted to gambling but each has a different theme, New York, Paris, Treasure Island, etc. They are truly beautiful settlings. On our way home we stopped at the Valley of Fire State Park. The natural setting had a different kind of beauty. But we forgot the camera on this trip. We left St. George on June 1st, a hot day, after about 2 weeks ... read more

"If your location does not exist, click add location" I believe I have a partner in travel for the whole of the trip now. My friend Jason is perhaps going back to school next fall, so I've been doing my best to convince him. Not only because I think he'd have the time of his life, but also because I know he would be super to travel with. Namely: he likes hiking, he's not afraid of trying new things, he's great company, and he's already got some good places in mind. Like Senegal. I don't know much about it personally, but I guess I'll let him do the research on that one. Where do I want to go?? Well, it's looking more and more like we'll start in Malaysia and work our way up through Thailand... ... read more

Well, after a four hour confusing drive Jon, Kyle, and myself pull into our Super 8 Motel. We are being awakened at 2:30AM for our 6:00AM flight to China. The amount of 'stuff' packed is unreal. Only time will tell if the silly things we packed will pay off or not... It's been a great month since school has been left out. I've managed to go to New York City, Philadelphia for a weekend, and a weekend at the beach. Pics will be posted when I return back to my computer in the US. Just so you all know.... 2 months of China and Mongolia here we come!!! thinking of you all, - Zach... read more

Well, we are getting ready for our next trip in the Bothan Taistil. Florida is our destination for two months. Pipestem,West Virginia will be our first stop, hopefully for a hike and some sighting. On to Charlotte, NC, for a few days with Bob's daughter, Heather and her husband, Pete, but especially Bob's grandson, Helm! We are spending a few days in Savannah, GA., and then on to Jacksonville, FL. We have learned of a bike trail there and hope to take advantage of it. We will be camping at Florida’s State Parks along the way Vero Beach, FL is our next destination, to see Kelly’s brother, Jim and Jean. We haven't seen the Kelly’s since the spring so this should be pleasant. On we go to the Everglades, Key West, the gulf coast, and the ... read more
