Well it was a hard but necessary decision. We decided that now might not be the best to visit Tijuana. We said all along that if it looked like it might not be safe we would not cross the border we wouldn't. From what we have been hearing and seeing the situation near the Mexican does not appear to be safe enough for us to take the risk. So, we made a made mid-plan correction (almost a 180 degree turn actually). Next Saturday we will head to Pittsburgh instead of Tijuana. Yes some things will be lost-- a warm sunny destination, and opportunity to see the work el Faro does up close, and a chance for some of our more Spanish-ly inclined student to practice their language skills.

But there are also some positives: 2,000 less miles to ride in the van, a chance to see the place Mallory has been talking about for as long as I have known her, and perhaps most importantly, a chance to serve. So we will leave Cedar Falls for the East at 6:00 am on Saturday.
