Brief highlighted version since we are wheels up in 10 minutes:

It was quite a ride in. First there is lush scenery everywhere. Wildflowers grow on the side of the roads. The higher we went up the mountains the more our ears popped. Doug is very fond of taking curves at accerlearted speeds so there was a lot of gripping the door handle and cluthching my stomache all while trying to hold my ear closed to keep from bleeding out, or so I thought.

In all reality it probably only lasted 5 minutes but it felt like a lifetime before we were finally passing through the Allegheny Tunnel in PA. We did climb another 100 or so feet after that but it was not so bad that time. Coming down the mountain was a blast, for Doug, alot of "Whoo-hoos" and "Honey this is great."

We also stopped in Gettysburg, the college is amazingly widespread and sits on this lush land that is a mile or so from the original battle area. The city/town is beautiful and I would love to stay longer on another trip. There are monuments everywhere that help you remember what this place means to America. This site has the largest number of casualties during the American Civil War.

It was interesting to read about a man named Jubal Early, who served under General Lee. Then to turn down a street named "Reynold's Road". Then we looked at a map that told us we were about 40-50 miles south of "Canton" Firefly/Serenity fans, aka Browncoats, are probably going wild right about now (If they weren't already about my nickname). We were pretty excited to see these things as well. We are thinking this is probably not a coincidence.

Anyways I must get going, we have actually made it to Warrenton, MO. There was a Tornado warning so we had to take shelter at a Holiday Inn off Rt 70/40 W until it all cleared up. Next time we find internet I will write all about that interesting bit.

Until next time I remain,
A leaf on the wind
