We were up and at ’um at 5:30 this morning because we wanted to make a stop at the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park on our way to Minot, ND via Williston. We pulled out of camp at 8:00 heading north. Along our route we started seeing many oil pumps. The North Unit formations seemed to be taller than the ones in the South Unit...maybe because we were driving more through the “can... Read Full Entry

Favorite Picture Today
Apparently, I judge photos is other’s travel blogs now.... my favorite picture from today is #18 “Look at the dark gray layer on some of the formations.” It is amazing how different the northern park looks from the southern park. Thanks for taking the time to share all of your photos each day. PS - Kim says hi.

Love those cannonball formations!
I don't remember those, aren't they fabulous? They look man-made even though I know they are not. You are seeing some wonderful "big country" scenery. May as well head on up to Montana and Alaska....just saying....

Oil Fields
The oil company I work for has started drilling in Minot, ND (the bakken oil formation) again. I'm curious if one of the fields you saw belonged to Hunt Oil! Looks absolutely gorgeous. It's been fun keeping up with y'alls travels!

Thanks Meegan...
I am so glad you are enjoying our travels vicariously. We didn’t see “Hunt” specifically but it seemed that almost every business we saw was tied to oil one way or the other. It was amazing. As the person that we talked to said, things were coming back but seemed to be settling into an even pace vs a boom pace which I think would better.
