We are back on the highway (95) again for travel Day #2. Buckle up tight cause the road is kind of bumpy as we go through South Carolina. They build these RV's to withstand the occasional rough road but, goodness, when Cory hits a bump or big crack in the road.....it sounds like a hundred sledge hammers hitting on our rolling house all at once. My nerves are shot already. Where did I put my earplugs? Lulu has gone to the back and is hiding her head....that's all she has to hide, remember!
Our brief stay in the Wal-Mart parking lot was okay. The slant we were on was a little bigger than I thought. We were like mountain goats on a steep mountain side as we moved up & down on our narrow path inside the RV. Our heads were quite elevated as we slept....fortunately no dizziness when we got up from blood flow leaving our heads. And it was Hot! Managed to get a couple windows open.....whew! We needed that or we would have died of heat prostration in our sleep. Cory tried to find coffee in the morning at Wal-Mart: none. Wendy's wasn't open yet. Rats. Duh....we
have our Kureig in the RV.....viola---coffee is made! Crisis has passed.
Can you believe this? ......I never even went inside the Walmart to shop! Here we were, parked outside their door and I never even stepped across their threshold. My favorite store and I didn't race to meander through it all. Am I sick or what? Nope...no fever. I doubt that it could be I've been supersaturated by Walmart's.....that could never happen. Let's just say we didn't need anything more....bought it all at the many other Wally's we've visited on a regular basis for 4 months.
Okay. Time to do some of the "reflective" blogs.....the ones I didn't get done at the time. Don't get nervous....there are just a couple I have to catch up on and they won't be done all at one shot. Too many pictures. First, our fearless foursome made a visit to the Ale House. We haven't gone there on our usual regular Wednesday night outings for lobster. Bar Harbor changed that scenario for us. That's for sure. It was good to be back to The House, though. We did find out they aren't doing their lobsters anymore. Our waiter, Joey, said they were

Sam, our friend...finishing off Sandy's birthday dessert just too small!? No matter, they still have a ton of delicious other meals on their menu....not easy to select - there are so many. We had a good time. Sandy's birthday was coming up and she had a coupon for a dessert......and what a dessert it was: mega huge! Plenty for all of us plus Sam had lots to finish off. Joey was our solo singer but we all joined in to form a loud choir singing Happy Birthday to the Birthday girl. Fun with Food!
Because we so enjoy all the friends we have at Tropical Palms, it was time to bring them together and let them know how much we appreciate each one of them. We were sorry we waited so long because many of our friends have already left Tropical Palms and are now home. Better planning next year. We threw a pizza party the Friday night before we left. We ordered 20 pizzas from CiCi's to make sure we had enough. More than enough!! Pizzas were served plus a take home box for those who wanted it. Drinks included beer, wine and water. And "let the party begin". Almost everyone showed up to make
Our pizza party
The smoking section it a fun gathering for all. It was the perfect time to honor the upcoming birthday of our dearest friend, Sandy. The colorful cake was served with boisterous singing of Happy Birthday. What a grand celebration of friendship. Remember: "There are Good Ships and Wood Ships but the Best Ships are Friendships!" We are blessed with so many good friends. We shall miss you all but will see you again in 2018.....250 days! Lulu is holding her breath and counting the days. She loves each one of you.
Please note, I asked Diane Janke if I could borrow some of her photos she took to add to mine. She said yes. Thank you, Diane. She's the park's official "gathering" photographer as well as posting the Birthday and Anniversary wishes for everyone. One terrific person! You do a wonderful job, Diane.
They came and took our golf cart away. It is being stored by a business called CartZone. They will keep it inside with the battery charged. The monthly fee is reasonable. We have no way to haul it home unless we could strap it to the roof of our motor home or car. Kind of like the chair
George, Joe & Linda
Donna, Charlene, Art, Walt, Paulie, Carol that held the dead aunt in the movie "National Lampoon's Vacations." What a hoot. Cory would probably make me ride in it on the way home....alive! I would just get a big mega horn so I could continue to be his driving assistant. Much better view up there, too. I could see forever. Something to think about....eh?
Hey, look what I can see from our RV window. Don't have to be on the roof for this. We have been reading their hundreds of signs stating how many miles before we reach this wild and crazy spot. Where?.....you say. None other than "South of the Border"....right before coming into North Carolina. Didn't stop....only a few cars there....almost looked deserted. Not as festive as they claim on their many signs. And, thus, we journey onward.
Cory is still holding his own at the wheel. We made a few rest stops along the way. All's well so far.....knock, knock on wood! It's about 2:30 PM at this moment that I am writing.....have been writing on and off all day. Smithfield, N.C. is coming up on in 5 miles. Our good friends from Wellsville, DeAnne & Les McKay, live there now. Would
love to stop but we are on a mission: to get home! We'll be waving as we pass their exit. Hi, Les & DeAnne! Miss you! There is a nice campground in Smithfield (RVacation) if any of you followers need one as you return home.
Let's call it a day for now. My finger is sore from typing and tapping. Owwww! We'll be back tomorrow to fill you in on more of our travel tales plus another "back up" blog. You can stop applauding....we can hear you now. Cory has his coffee.....good. I have my blanket.....good. Lulu has her bed in my carry bag....good. All's well in the World! See you tomorrow.
P.S. There are 25 pictures so another continued scrolling and maybe going to a 2 page. Be on the outlook, folks.
