This covers more or less a week..
After staying 2 wonderful nights at Tracy´s couch I took a bus to Syracuse (first idea was Erie, that´s 11 hours, this is only 4,5hrs). Both Milena and I were late, so that was convenient. It was pouring rain and thus we visited an outlet. Again not be able to find my perfume, which became Tracy´s and my mission in NY City before. We found ourselves a motel, the owner Vic was very interested in Milena, for when she was 'feeling lonely'😉 We spoke w/ Rhys for how and when to meet up.
Next day breakfast Seneca Falls, drove to Geneva for tourist information centre which turned out to be not really impressive. We did found such a great place in this town with all homemade goodies. That means: chocolate cookies, yummie! We drove to Fillmore Glenn state park, this supposed to be a great diverse park. But the weather didn't seem to like us that much; it has been raining almost from the first moment. In the park they had great cabañas, but they were really expensive. We decided on driving to Ithaca and stayed in a motel again. Text from
the guys Rhys and Neil that they were going to meet us in their own rental car at Inlet in Adirondacks the next day.
The next morning we went to a park called Robert H. Treman, was really cool, we hiked 2 miles through a gorge trail. This was just walking in the river, climbed up next to small waterfall, puddles, fish, flowers, more waterfalls, gorgeous!! Back through the woods again 2 miles. After that we took off towards Inlet, we saw some deer next to the road, and some amazing cloud formations. In Inlet we found ourselves a place to stay, really sweet people running the place. My fear got true: no signal on my mobile, so how to meet up with the gentlemen? We left notes at the few bars the little town has, imagining the guys would likely want to have a beer after a long ride😊 And felt it our duty to pre-test the beers and cocktails! Next day no sign of the boys, we figured that they wouldn't come. That was a bit shitty because we planned around our meet-up.
Milena & I did a horse back ride beginning of the afternoon. We
requested beforehand that we wanted to ride and not just sit on the horses, and that´s what we got: awesome!! The horses were so fast, mine was called Blue & Milena´s Sisco. In the woods it was so pretty. We also encountered two lady deer trying to hump each other. Totally fulfilled and covered in mud we came back. After this we also decided to take an airplane ride above the lakes, this was breathtaking. An old man was flying the old plane, as I was coughing we made jokes about the possibility of whooping cough (sorry..).
We drove towards Niagara Falls, this was a very long ride which we broke in 2. We found out later I wasn't actually allowed to drive at all in her Canadian rental, whoops. Niagara Falls, what can I say.. We both expected a nice, rich, touristy town, I can tell you: far from that! Really shabby, almost scary, not a friendly town. Weird! The motel was the cheapest so far, surprisingly, with swimming pool the size of my foot (so still pretty big..) and next to a highway. We wanted to see a movie, but there was no movie theater. That's how
we ended up in the casino. Where I expected ladies w/ feathers and tiny outfits; again totally the opposite. We played some poker had a few drinks and went back.
That´s were my little painful drama started; after taking out my contacts my left eye started hurting, light was bothering me and so on. I ended up being in a lot of pain, I couldn't clean my eye, it kept tearing, I couldn't fall asleep.. I woke up Milena and we went to hospital at 4 in the morning. America seems unhealthy for me. 2 hours later I got the verdict: there's a ¨scoop¨ out of my cornea. I had some sleep (I got some very nice numbing drops in my eye), we went to an eye doctor and I became an emergency case. Final diagnose: I had cornea ulcer, or in normal English: there was a scoop out of the blue part of my eye size bigger than a millimeter. I got a lot of drops and ointments for every 15 minutes, later every hour. Also all throughout the night! Now 2 weeks later my eye is fine.
I was obviously not be able to do a
lot, besides being in a bad bad mood.. So Milena went off to buy presents for her siblings and family in the outlets, and the sweetheart brought me back a delightful dinner, pizza AND Chinese with a can of coke! The next day I could actually walk outside with the special, amazingly sexy sunglasses over my normal glasses and we went to Niagara Falls. This was so impressive, huge and wet. We had our first encounter with a groundhog. All together a great great day. Our last meal together wasn't that good haha! Next morning our last visit to the eye doctors. One lady was so lovely: we got a lot of tips from her over the past days, I got sample medication so that was partially free of costs and even got a hug in the end. We had our last breakfast and off I went on the train.
This week was really cool, it is nice to be with someone who knows you. We had a lot of fun, she brought letters and martini, all together great!!
In NY I went this time to Brooklyn, to Alyson, Aubrey and Caitlins place. Really nice place! From there
I had a few downtown trips, and again tried to cash my paycheck. Which in the end it got solved with great help from miss Tracy, who I dated one afternoon. Went to a party, to a bar, to Long Island to see the last time some of the staff. Jimmy's place is so peaceful and pretty and the beach was great (de-virginized my 5 dollars bikini!). I went back the same day, had another party. The next day was my last chance to fix me-being-a-bad-tourist. Then there's goodbye and get ready for my big travel adventure, I felt strangely calm...
