Last April I was in a play. It changed my life in ways i never could've known at the time. For the first time in my life i've made the concious decision to do something completely for me. It's an amazing feeling of freedom that makes my brain swoon with expectation everytime the thought comes to the forefront of my mind.

In February I will embark on a, somewhat whirlwind, RTW trip. (RTW = Round The World in backpacker lingo) My trip will start in Dublin, Ireland and take me mostly overland across Europe and Asia, trouncing through SE Asia on my way to Australia where i will catch a short flight to New Zealand.

A heafty undertaking, i know. (actually, i don't know- but that's part of why i'm going, so don't spoil my surprise!)

So far this trip has been almost a year in the making. I'm getting the craziest feeling in my gut, the closer it gets. It's one thing to plan it out, another to actually go. booking that first flight was one of the most amazing feelings i've ever had...it was the excitement of Christmas morning mixed with the most real fear i've ever felt.

But that pill swallowed...i'm on my way. For the next couple of months the game is SAVE SAVE SAVE.

Treats
Remember to treat yourself :) It's one of the things I wished I did more. I spent lots of time saving to extend the duration of my trips and not enough time splurging where I could. In any case, whatever you do, you'll meet enough entertaining people along the way whether you spend money or not. Like that Russian psychologist I met in Cambodia who showed up at the common room of our hostel in a tizzy one night saying something about the Cambodian mafia being after him and he'd have to flee the country.
