But like all large cities, New York has its ups and downs.
The ups include great parks and gardens, restaurants galore, fantastic theatre offerings, museums and art galleries amongst which is the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the glorious Met. Having been to the Met many times before I was a bit blasé about returning again this time. But deciding to visit on our last day in NYC we ventured there and I'm so glad we did. It's a gem!! We saw a brilliant exhibition all about China which was fan-bloody-tastic. Oh yes, and on the up side I'd also include the great majority of New Yorkers themselves!
On the down side there's the constant noise, sirens, horn honking and the like; rubbish on the streets; dog poo and urine almost wherever you walk. NYC is made up of the haves and have-nots and it's not much of a city for the latter. Unlike Australia there are no real social security so you're on your own without money.
But the most spectacular upside to NYC is the fact that Kerrii, Seb, Grace and Rupert live there so we're always sad to leave! Goodbye my darlings, love you all to
bits!!
