After being told we would be impounded in JFK airport for 7 hours with no chance of escape we weren´t looking forward to the first leg of the journey. However, we managed to sweet talk our way through US customs (an achievement in itself) and get out.
So we took a NY cab into Manhattan at dusk and came over one of the bridges as the sunset over the skyline. We got dropped off in Time Square and ran around trying to see as much as possible before we had to get back. Managed to see Central Park and all the beautiful people (there are a lot!). As we left there were fireworks over the skyline and a full moon - they must have known we were coming!
