FLAVOUR OF THE DAY: VITAMIN C, TYLENOL COLD & FLU, ADVIL

We are both sick now. I have what Ian has had for the last week, and as usual it hit my chest and I've been out for the count for the last two days. Fortunately my Golden Arrow resort bed next to the window has a pretty lake outlook with lots of trees, and I awaken to birds singing their lovesongs. It could be worse. It could be Corner Brook! So, we've laid low, and ventured out only for a 5 minute walk here and there to stretch out the legs.

This area is fantastic for the outdoors enthusiasts. We've seen countless athletes training for the marathon and half this Sunday, as well as watched swimmers in the lake then get onto bikes training for the ironman later this month. I can only imagine how romantic and gorgeous this little village would be in winter, everything decorated with snow, skiers trudging around with their skis, hot chocolates in hand, toques pulled low, ahhhhhhh. We must come back.

The population of Lake Placid is 2500. How on earth did they hold 2 winter olympics here? And from what I understand, they are bidding for the seventh time for the next winter games.

Tomorrow, if we are on the mend, we plan to start riding south through New York state. Our next destination is Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground, just north of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is a campground set up specifically for motorbikers. How cool. Continuing south, we hope to see Amish country, in the Dutch county of Pennsylvania. At this rate, we will not be home by July 5! Store the bikes? Fly home then return for a couple more weeks? It's a possibility. (Sorry Rob, sorry Sabrina!).
