Dear Friends, Romans, & Family Members, With fond memories of a Sweet (Suite) visit with the Svihuses, we left Maine for Brookline, New Hampshire where we had stayed previously and we knew it was still open. Got back into our Road Routine. We then left for New York, crossing Massachusetts on Highway 2 going to New York. It was a beautiful drive...another scenic highway through The Berkshires at their in-between seasons. We arrived in Binghamton, NY as we knew that this campground was still open. Again no water hookups, but electricity is so welcome as then we have heat without running the generator. We will explore this town today. But, the BIG news was the weather. So far in more than 2 months on the road, we have only had 6 days of rain and usually just sprinkles. Of course, it has, at times, been very cold. Well, it started out as rain, but then turned into snow in New York. So, we cranked up XM103 "Holly" which Jenn had found on their rental car, and sang our way into the whirly snow flakes. It never really stayed on the ground, but it looked heavenly. One of the best finds that I discovered was a bookstore. I had wanted to buy Steinbeck's Travels with Charley, but couldn't find it in Carmel. I knew I could pick it up anywhere so settled on Kuralt's On the Road. Well, I found it and now I remember why I wanted it so badly. He speaks so eloquently on what we are feeling as we drive through this colorful landscape. Steinbeck writes, " I can't even imagine the forest colors when I am not seeing them. I wondered whether constant association could cause inattention, and asked a native New Hampshire woman about it. She said the autumn never failed to amaze her; to elate. 'It is a glory,' she said, 'and can't be remembered, so that it always comes as a surprise.'" Bulletin just in: Paul's parents invited us to come a day earlier as they got us tickets to the Sienna vs. Stanford BB game. Did I bring anything cardinal red? That should be fun! So, Albany here we come! love, DWT
