Day 4: Raton, NM

Oklahoma City to Raton, NM. We are still on I-40 West. Today is a great travel day! Lots to see. Gigantic windmills courtesy of the Oklahoma Wind Energy Center dot the landscape. They look like something out of a sci-fi movie. We also see one of the real buildings that the animators creating the movie, CARS used in the film. In CARS it was the custom paint shop of one of the characters.
Lots of tiny derricks also dot the landscape, along with windmills straight out of Wizard of Oz.
Managed to get a shot of the Welcome to Texas sign. Fascinated by the crops and the irrigation. Piper points out that the crops are planted in gigantic circles so the circular path of the irrigation system can effectively water all the growing plants. The only thing I can clearly recognize is corn. Otherwise, its just green stuff to me.
I start keeping the camera in my lap as we drive and consequently get a lot more pictures.

Trip highlights
It has been nice reading the blog. I was checking in today to see if there was anything new. It sounds like you guys are having a great time. Nice to see you are taking in some ECO friendly sights along the way-is this research for the next stock purchse? :) Things are going well in the office-not that you were wondering-have safe travels.....Amy
