We are leaving Las Cruces and will arrive in Tucson later this afternoon. We kind of got a late start b/c we had a problem w/ one of our power cords which had to be replaced. We also ran out of gas in the night but we were warm enough b/c of the electric heater!!! Ah, the joys ofd RVing. But it could be a lot worse.
We stayed at a KOA again and it was very nice. Just a ways over the Rio Grande, set high up above the city. I should have taken some pics last night b/c the view was so pretty w/ all of the twinkling lights down below. But we were tired and hungry and anxious to just rest a bit. I also needed to do some laundry. The laundry facilities were impeccable so that is always a nice plus. At least I was able to feel that my clothes were actually clean. I just did not realize that it would be soooo cool here! But it is warmer today so I did put on my capris and actually hauled out my sandals.
This KOA also offers some gorgeous views from the campsites. It
is really nicely appointed w/ little gazebos set about the area and nice walkways for pets. Very clean. It would be a nice place to stay for a few days.
Along the way to Tucson, we kept seeing signs for THE THING? Kind of like the signs for RUBY FALLS and LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN. Mike usually refuses to stop to see any of those things, but it was time for a stop and there we were at THE THING? travel spot. I am always a sucker for these things! Ha ha. I think I do it just to get a rise out of Mike. Imagine that? Anyway, Mike saved a buck b/c I did not go in . I had asked a little kid how the THING was and he said it was OK. There was a mummy in there and a bunch of antique guns and munitions. AND more antiques that they want you to BUY!!!!
On the rest of the drive to Tucson, it began to rain but then cleared off before we arrived at the Prince of Tucson RV Park. Not very princely or regal but nice. Right off I-10 with easy access which is important
when pulling this thing. We will stay here for 3 nights now which will be very nice!!!! It is cool and windy also.
Last night we ate at the Happy Iguana, a Mexican/American restaurant. Very generous portions at very fair prices. The tortillas were genuine and delicious!!!! Great rice and refried beans! After that we visited a golf buddy of Mike's who lives here in the winter. Actually, he lived in Hobart prior to that, not far from us at all! Mike had hoped to golf w/ him but he has a confernece in Texas and is leaving. Mike is pretty sore from all the driving so it is just as well. But somehow he doesnt hurt as much when he plays golf??????
We will tour the area today and will post pics later..............
