Yay, Starbucks!
Frequent stops for caffeinated beverages results in frequent stops for emptying full bladders. We left Lake Arrowhead at 5am, hoping to arrive in Cloudcroft by 6:30p, but it was such a long and dreary drive we stopped a lot. A billboard for IHOP outside of Indio, CA persuaded us to stop for breakfast. And then another billboard in Phoenix convinced us to stop at the Nike Factory Outlet store - where the temperature was 105°.
I think we probably stopped at every rest stop from Tucson to Las Cruces. We were very happy when we finally arrived in Cloudcroft at 8:45pm - after about 14 hours on the road. We were way too tired for fireworks.
We'll be spending the next two days in Cloudcroft - where cell phone reception really sucks.
