Odd but TrueOdd but TrueOdd but True

Random fact: Some penguins live in South Africa. These ones were hanging out with their friends, the giraffes.
Mom played hooky from work and we drove to Omaha to visit the zoo. For some reason, my whole family has a love of zoos. Whenever we're on vacation someplace with a nice zoo, we go. Last week I thought to myself, "You know, it'd be nice to go to the Omaha Zoo. I haven't been there for years." The next day, Mom said, "You know, I can take a day off of work. I think we should go to the Omaha Zoo." Weird. But, normal in my family.

So, Mom and I packed a picnic lunch and headed out early in the morning for Omaha. Not too early, though, because it only takes an hour and a half to get there. We entered the zoo at 10:20 and noticed that we could go see the penguins being fed at 10:30. I love penguins, so that's where we headed. I was really impressed by the penguin exhibit. We walked around the entire zoo and discovered it's much larger than last time either of us had been there. It took us 4 hours to get through it all! We were so exhausted afterwards. Good thing we had food to eat in

Bright and early and ready to hit the road!
the car, because we needed to sit there for 20 minutes just to rest and catch our second wind.

On our way home we stopped at the casino in Council Bluffs for my first slot-machine experience. Being the high-rollers that we are, we made a bee-line for the penny slots. It was so much fun! Do you know how long you can play with $5 on a penny slot? We didn't hit the jackpot, but we definity got our money's worth of fun!

I guess this means I'll have to get back to that job-hunting thing next week...

Actually South Africa is much colder that most people imagine. Here in Angola there are no penguins, but there are pigs, chickens and lambs running all over the streets alongside their friends, the angolans...
