The 5 natural falls are now being used for hydroelectricity. This is one of them.
We made the trip up to Great Falls from Grand Teton. We planned this so we did not have to spend too much time in the car prior to getting to Glacier national Park. We were staying in a small cabin (shed) at a campsite just outside of Great Falls. Too far to walk for a beer so we had to bring it in along with a local delicacy (take away pizza). There was entertainment at the campsite - well two locals playing a selection of bluegrass and country songs. It was good in some areas and not so good in others - the jokes and the in between song banter. They were somewhat reminiscent of the "duelling banjoes" scene in the Deliverance. In fact, a request to play that song was received and approved, our request for a George Michael number fell on deaf ears. We stayed in Great Falls for two nights, and on the day we were there we cycled the riverside path (Missouri) taking in the multiple falls that are in the area. It was a really pleasant day, but its scenic views cannot compare to previous areas. We left really early to get up to the

Glacier national Park as we wanted to make the most of the day, but we were a bit concerned when we arrived at our campsite to find the office closed, undeterred we just went and explored part of this fantastic park and would come back to booking in later. Later came, as did other guests, and the office was still not open. We were all a bit concerned that we may have been ripped off, but all was well in the end as the owner was just in his trailer. A sign may have helped!! This time we had a larger shed with a bathroom. Well not really a bathroom, it was a "porta-potty" and a jug of water, but we went with the flow. Did not use the "toilet" in the shed as the overwhelming smell of the chemicals put us off. The park entrance was relatively close and the campsite had a bar so the key areas were covered. We met a very nice couple from California who we shared a drink or two with. The mixture of beer, wine , bacardi and vodka took its toll on the following day, when we were due to move to

This is a great way to see the area.
Canada and Calgary.

Glacier National Park is a superb place to see lakes, views, animals etc. The lakes and views were great but our big chance of seeing bears and other wildlife was to be at the Many Glaciers area, which is beautiful but our toll on animals was chipmunks, crows and a dragonfly. There was of course mosquitos to deal with and a fairly liberal coating of DEET sorts the little buggers out. We tried to hike to view one of the glaciers, but the path was still blocked with snow and we could only get about 2/3rds of the way up. Still a great walk though.
