I will asd photos when I get some time. We overnighted it in Adelaide after leaving Lincoln at the Grand Chancelor on Currie St, it was OK being less than a regular 4 star but adequate. We got going at 4am and got to the airport for $23, cheched in and had a pleasant flight to Brisbane without much time to spare we got into our premium economy seats. This was our first experience of Premium with Qantas, it was not too bad as we did get some rest on the 747. The aircraft was 16 years old but had been refurbished. LA had finally rfinished revamping the Tom Bradley terminal and it worked smoothly, the guy at customs was funny when we declared food he asked what we had and when we proceeded to tell him Tim Tams he quickly responded with the list of regular Australian stuff: Vegimite, Twisties, Cherry Ripes etc. tnen said "have a nice stay". It was hot, 103 Farenheit but we still took a train to chinatown for lunch but too early so we settled on a Starbucks coffee and spent the rest of our wait for the train at the Amtrak lounge at Union Station. The Southrn Chief left on time and our sleeper was put to good use. It was a great experience, all food was included and the quality and quantity was fine, alcohol was extra. The following day we took in the views and shared conversations with lots of people as we watched from the observation car. Got to Garden City at 12.30am that night which was an hour late and a nice chap gave us a lift to our hotel. Got a hire car and drove to Tribune and spent three days with the Schneiders rekindling old friendship and checking out the new baby girl. A lovely time. Got back onto the train to Kansas City which was one hour late but made up the time as it rattled and shook it journey through the night. Did not get a lot of sleep but was good to get horizontal. Got into Kansas City MO and onto the Misouri River Runner train which left promptly at 8.15am only had to wait about 30 minutes. The business class ride was 5 hours to Saint Louis. Took a lookat the Arch and ate back at the Union Station Hotel where we stayed.
