Yesterday after our trip to Peele point we were all hungry and Amy had spotted Shermans resturant almost next to the Ramada Inn where we where staying. Despite our original misgivings it turned out very well. I managed to get a roast beef dinner with a salad (bar) starter for $11-75 (less than six pounds) and also had apple crumble and ice cream. The others all manged to find soups and salads.
We then returned to the Ramada where I loaded up our blogs whilst Amy wore the exercise machines out in fitness room before joining Mum and Richard in the swimming pool.
This morning we enjoyed a free breakfast in the hotel before setting out for Detroit to catch our plane. We were worried about the potential traffic delays at the border as it was independence Day in America and a public holiday there, so we left the hotel at 8-45am.
We went straight to the USA border with no problems, but had to stop at their customs to get entry visas.
Having arrived early, three of the party decided that some retail therapy was needed (goods are cheaper in the USA than Canada or England). They
left me in a shopping mall where I managed to find a free internet connection so maneged to post the blog we had prepared the night before.
The shopping mall turned up a good bag for Richard, who had been struggling with a bottomless rucksack, but Amy could not find an outdoor clothing shop for a suitable waterproof, so with help from Myra (Amy's sat nav) we found a very new outlet with a very impressive selection of good gear, also a life size elk and a bear.
We found an excellent cafe called Potbelly's with a proprieter who had a belly to match. Amy chatted to him and told him our travel story and he gave us free cookies which weighd a ton and seem to have been made of pure sugar.
We set off to the airport after Amy repacked for the third time to accommodate the new purchases!
Needless to say we lost Bob as usual he had snuck out for a cigarette then Amy was missing for boarding as she decide to buy a book, Rich agreed this was a first this year!!!! and then headed to the back of the plane for some peace and
quite from our chaos!!
Now we are on our way to Seattle and I wish there was some food in evidence but water is all we have been offered so far. It's going to be a long night!
I can't quite believe we are blogging on the plane or that we are flying nearly as far to the other side of Canada as it woud be to the homeland! Also we have set off on a 5 hour flight and will ariive 2 hours after we start, what time travellers we are, ok just very new to all this jet setting.
If you hadn't guessed its Amy writing and just thought I'd tell you about the cool night we spent at the drive in movie the first night we stayed with Rich. Mum and dad couldn't handle the pace of the dusk till dawn drive in movie, so me and Rich set off to attempt 3 films in a row, (yes, Gra with my track record one was ambitous). The first movie was awful so we chatted all the way through, then watched facinated during the trailers for the intermission (which were actually better than the movie!!) as people, dogs,
children all came out from cars, trucks, vans to get food. The next moviewas fab, but only lasted 10 more mins before falling asleep during a Mike Myrers classic Love Guru!! It was a great night but had to bail at 2.00am, as our car wasn't as comfy as some of the trucks, and vans that people had set up with beds and chairs and all sorts of ways of watching from their vehicles. Bye for now and read the next episod from the West!!

Time zones now getting confusing
can't quite work out what time your on, but at least I know where in the world you are. Gran and I admired the snake photo again, more of those Mum! And where are the bears and moose? Anyway well done on the blogging keeping all us boring people amused at home. Although could be whale watching in the Azores soon.
