14 More Days!
Counting down until we leave “That’s not long enough!” Ava protested.
“Well, we don’t want it to be long this time Ava. That would mean that we have a lot of days before we leave for the Czech Republic, and we don’t want to wait that long.” I explained. We were making a paper chain representing how many day we have left until we leave. We made one when we were in Ann Arbor, and it was very long. That seems like forever ago.
“So we only have 14 days?” She started to perk up.
“That’s right Ava. Only 14 days left. That’s two weeks and we’re outta here!” And now I’m excited!
I can’t believe we only have two more weeks until we leave the farm! The plan is to leave early in the morning on Wednesday, March 6
th and make our way to Ann Arbor, Michigan. I hope to have lunch somewhere in the area so Ava and I can see our friends one more time before we leave the country. Then, we’ll stay at my uncle’s farm for the night and he will take us to the airport. This is convenient because it allows my mom to park her
Chain of Days
Each link represents one day. Ava will take a link off each morning so she will have a visual representation of the time left before we leave. van at my uncle’s farm for the month she is with us.
A few posts ago, I made a little list of things I had to do and I have been checking those things off my list on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the family lawyer has still not gotten back to me, so I may have to find someone else to prepare the simple document I need. Tomorrow I will be taking care of my taxes and getting a bank account in my hometown. For those of you planning on making enough money overseas that you will be able to send money home, be sure to have the information needed to wire money into your account in a pinch. I really need to figure out how Pay Pal works too. But, I won’t be sending any money home while I am in the Czech Republic, so Pay Pal is not an immediate concern for me.
I have packed 95% of our things at this point. It’s very exciting! Originally, I planned to take two small suitcases (One for me and one for Ava) and for us each to carry a small backpack on the plane. If I were
Princess Tent
Although this is NOT Ava in the picture, this tent was very light and have only four poles that folded easily. The whole thing folds down into a tiny carrying case. only taking clothing, this would have worked. Instead, I will be taking 3 suitcases because I feel that Ava really should be able to take some of her toys. After all, she is leaving everything she has ever known and venturing into a new world without being given a choice in the matter. Of course, she is really excited to go and loves new things. However, I will be taking a few things to make her transition more comfortable. I will bring her princess tent to set up in our room (photo is included in this blog), her barn for her animals, all her barnyard animals, several Barbies, the bag of Barbie clothes, and 2 small, stuffed animals. There are her favorite toys and I think she will be happy to have them with us. I feel like I should add that when I was alone and living overseas in Japan, I rarely spent time in my room. However, I don’t think it will be appropriate to keep Ava out after dark in a foreign country. Being a mom certainly has changed my priorities!
Thank you all for standing by and staying interested in this journey. My mom mentioned today that I probably would not have believed when I was in Japan that the next time I would be going overseas, I would be taking her (my mom) and Ava (since I wasn’t sure I was pregnant yet) with me. She’s right. I figured that if I were really pregnant, Ava and I would make a life here in the U.S. But now that I really understand Ava’s personality, I know that she will enjoy adventure as much as me. Be sure to check in next week when three generations of Eastwood females make their final preparations!
