But also the most excited one! December went by very fast. The weeks went by very fast and before I knew it was almost over…. They say: “Time flies when you’re having fun”, well I totally agree with that! I like my internship, my colleagues, my duties and tasks. I also met very nice people in Boston, who became very good friends! I wish I could stay here for longer, because I really gonna miss all of these cool people.
Luckily, there is one person I’ll still see after I’m done with my Internship, namely: Wytske from the Netherlands. She also studies marketing at the Hanze University. Our parents live in the same province! So, we will visit each other many many times when we’re back in Holland!!
Wytske and I have been visiting 4 different cities in different states (she actually visited 5 different cities) this month. In the beginning of December we traveled to Washington DC and we stayed there for one weekend. She flew from Florida and we met each other at the airport. One of my friends in Boston has some friends in DC. We got in contact with them and they wanted to meet
up with us. The first night we had a nice dinner at ‘Barcelona’, a nice Spanish restaurant (that make sense) with them. After that, they showed us a little bit around the strip. It’s a long street with cute and small bars. Perfect for celebrating the weekend after a long work day. The day after, we went to the National Mall. First we went to the Lafayette Square and walked to The White House. There were a lot of police agents and you couldn’t really see it from nearby, because of security reasons. We saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr Memorial, West Potomac Park, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. I found this place very special, because of all the history behind it. That night we went to a very nice Italian restaurant, later we found out that it was a pretty expensive one, but you only live once (ha-ha). The last day we rented a bike and went to Georgetown. It’s nice neighborhood, but after a while we saw enough. We were looking for something more exciting… something like: the Zoo?? Unfortunately, both of us are not really good map readers, we also
had to put our bike in a special bike station every 30 minutes, that also made it a little bit more stressful. At the end we found the Zoo, but we couldn’t find the bike station. It was also already afternoon and we wanted to be on time at the airport. When we finally found a station, we put our bikes in it and arranged an Uber to the place we stayed at. After we packed our suitcases, there was an alarm going… We were so scared!! I honestly thought, that those were our last hours of our lives, but luckily there was nothing going on!
At Christmas Eve, Wytske and I were in New York City and we spend just a few hours in the city. We walked to the Empire State building, to the Rock and we walked through Central Park. We had no more time, because my family was waiting for us. We drove to New Jersey and had a nice Cuban and Polish family dinner. After that, we opened our presents. That night we drove to Pennsylvania, my family’s vacation house. We spend our Christmas day and the whole weekend in this state. We ate
a lot and we also gave each other a few presents. The last day, my uncle drove us around New York City and we had dinner in his restaurant. My friend and I took the bus from Manhattan to Boston. After 4, 5 hours we were finally in Boston. We went to my friend in Boston and stayed there over for the night.
My friend stayed with me in Salem and Boston for the whole week. We went to Newbury Street, a few bars and clubs. She really liked the city, except for the chilly weather. It was also snowing!! On New Years Eve, we went to some friends in South Boston and had a very nice Turkish dinner. We enjoyed having dinner together. Later we were drinking champagne on the rooftop. After a few hours, we went to a karaoke lounge ‘Limelight’ and we had a lot of fun. This was good beginning of 2016!
